[Peri-implantation enzymes and mineralization in bone tissue after implantation of bioactive vitroceramic material--a method for biomaterial testing for hard tissue substitutes. 2. Results of studies of vitroceramics and their modification by the admixture of metal oxides].

The activities of the alkaline and the acid bone phosphatases as well as the concentrations of calcium and phosphorus were measured in the periimplantal tissue of the rat femur bone after implantation of the vitroceramic Ap 40, the metal oxide stabilized vitroceramics Ap 40 A and Ap 40 Z, as well titanium after 2, 10, and 15 weeks. The incorporation of the vitroceramic Ap 40 turns out like a primary bone fracture healing. The implants Ap 40 A and Ap 40 Z are a compromise with a higher stability and the osteogenesis induced effect is preserved, but is belated in contrast to Ap 40.

[Peri-implant enzyme activities and mineralization in bone tissue after implantation of bioactive vitroceramics--a method for biomaterial testing of hard-tissue substitutes. 1. Establishment and representation of the method].

A method for testing the bioactivity of hard tissue implants is described by analysis of the periimplantary enzyme activities of the alkaline and the acid phosphatase in the femur of rats. Bioactive materials cause an increase of the activity of the alkaline phosphatase in the periimplantal bone tissue. An increase of the activity of the acid phosphatase is a measure for the biodepressive effect of the implant material.

[Therapy of ureter lesions near the bladder (experiences with Boari plastic surgery)].

Report on the late results of 68 Boari plastic operations performed at least 4 years ago. Excellent results were achieved (normal urogramme, clinically free of pain) in 65% and satisfactory results (normal urogramme, subclinical infection of the urinary tract and/or vesicouteral reflux) in 8%. In 14 patients (27%) the results were not satisfactory. It appears that the Boari plastic operation continues to be a recommendable method for bridging major defects of the distal ureter.

[Computerised tomography as a means to classify bladder tumours according to stages (author's transl)].

On the basis of examinations carried out in 27 patients (26 histologically verified carcinomas of the bladder), it is shown that computerised tomography considerably improved the preoperative classification, into stages, of the bladder tumours coming up for surgery. Endovesical growth cannot be differentiated with certainty. Perivesical expansion of tumours and the identification of lymphatic node metastasis can be covered significantly better by computerised tomography than by other methods.

[What is fluoroacetate diabetes?].

The opinion is incorrect that the monofluor carbon-induced hyperglucosaemia which in literature is cited under the term fluor acetate diabetes is caused by insulin deficiency due to lesion of the pancreatic beta-cells. The cause of the fluor acetate diabetes is a disturbance of the glucose degradation by inhibition of the enzyme phosphofructokinase. Insulin applications have no causal influence on the monofluor carbon intoxications and no symptomatic influence on the fluor acetate diabetes.
