[Psychiatric classifications: basis, development and current status].
The foundations of classificatory activity and taxonomic strategies in medicine and psychiatry are analyzed. The problems of classification based on symptoms, the reliability of psychiatric diagnosis, and the relation between symptoms and diagnosis are discussed. The process of DSM-IV and ICD-10 elaboration is commented.
