The localization of the enzymatic activity of non-specific esterase and endogenous peroxidase of the Langerhans' cells in murine epidermal sheets separated with EDTA was observed by means of light and electron microscopy. The Langerhans' cells exhibited non-specific esterase activity in the outer portion of the plasma membrane and endogenous peroxidase activity in the nuclear envelope and the endoplasmic reticulum.
The pattern of lymph node involvement in Waldenström's macröglobulinemia (MG) is described according to clinical and histological materials from 2 biopsy and 4 autopsy cases. The histological features of biopsy were well-differentiated, diffuse, lymphocytic lymphoma in one case (case 1) and sinus histiocytosis (SH) with nodular aggregates of lymphoid cells as observed by the first biopsy in the other case (case 2). An immunofluorescent study of lymph nodes revealed monoclonal proliferation of B lymphocytes (IgM, gamma) in both cases. In case 2, a majority of circulating lymphoid cells bore membrane-bound monoclonal IgM. The histological features of lymph nodes obtained by the second biopsy in case 2 was comparable with the well-differentiated, lymphocytic lymphoma in some nodes, and diffuse and nodular proliferation with preservation of sinuses in the other nodes. The pattern of lymph node involvement of 4 autopsy cases were also analysed. According to these investigations. It is suggested that lymph node showing SH is a pattern of lymph node involvement of MG.

1) During the last 10 years, 11 cases of primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach were operated on. 2) Histologically, the specimens from the stomach showed adenocarcinoma with squamous differentiation in all the cases. 3) All the patients but 1 were males and their average age was 61.2 years. 4) The duration of illness prior to treatment was relatively long period of time and the chief complaints in over half of the patients were abdominal pain. 5) Eight cases showed metastases at the time of operation. Metastasis to the regional lymph nodes was observed in 8 cases and the squamous element was present in 5 of these cases. 6) There was no operative death. Followup study was made in 9 cases. Only 2 are still alive and the remaining 7 died of recurrence. The length of survival averaged 10.7 months.

In an examination of a variety of diseases associated with a peripheral blood eosinophilia it is evident that the eosinophilia is not necessarily accompanied by increased amounts of serum IgE. Tissue eosinophilia occurring with mast cell hyperplasia and usually increased amounts of IgE, indicate atopic allergy. It is considered that the eosinophilic granuloma of soft tissue (Kimura's disease) is an atopic disease and quite different from histiocytosis X.
