[Modern strategy for oncologic diseases in health resorts].

Talking with cancer patients is a process situated in a special field of tension. The individual affected by cancer suffers in multiple ways: from his somatic disease, his emotional reactions to the condition, from an ever-present fear of disease recurrence or spread. The patient is afraid of a lack of acceptance on the part of his environment, of social isolation and communication deficits, of insufficiencies in his ability to cope with the condition. This is where "Mitseinsbehandlung" sets in, an empathic, holistic approach to treatment bearing on all the various planes at which help is required. This approach is described in more detail.

Autogenic Training

[Treatment of orthostatic disorders of circulatory regulation by means of DET MS retard].

30 patients suffering from troubles in orthostatic circulatory regulation in the sense of a so-called hypersympathicotonic reaction were treated with DET MS retard for 4 weeks and permanently controlled concerning objective changes (circulation by modified Schellong-test on the tilting table) as well as subjective changes (symptoms). The evaluation of the findings shows the stabilisation of the regulation of blood pressure, an extensive economization of the circulatory behaviour during orthostasis, and a statistically evident improvement of clinical symptoms.

Adult

Effects of Demetrin on circulation.

In a double-blind study the influence of Demetrin on cardiovascular activity was investigated. Basic values before treatment were compared with values after 1 and 2 weeks' administration. The cardiovascular parameters "pulse rate" and "blood pressure" were studied in the orthostatic tolerance test (pivoting table) and in the bicycle ergometer test. Results were evaluated with variance analysis. Demetrin at dosage levels of 3 x 10 mg/day and 3 x 20 mg/day did not influence cardiovascular function. Occasionally mild sedation was observed.
