[Jaroslav Hladik--a Czech pharmaceutical historian on his jubilee].

Jaroslav Hladík, who on 12. April 2003 would reach the age of 100 years, started his professional career as a pharmacist in different pharmacies, but after certain period of interim activities he became a university teacher Associate Professor for Pharmaceutical History, founded a pharmaceutical museum, published papers on pharmaceutical history, laid the foundations of a centralized pharmaceutical book collections, etc. He was successfully active in several pharmaceutical university institutions in Prague, Brno, and Bratislava. Pharmaceutical history remained his hobby until his death on 1. August 1975. He is remembered as a great positive personality of Czech pharmacy.

[Drug forms as the subject of a dissertation in the historical past of Charles University].

The "galenical" dissertation which was presented for disputation by Georgius Horcicka at Charles University in 1841 is discussed as far as its content is concerned. The dissertation studies a great number of pharmaceutical dosage forms, many of which are already obsolete, but a certain number of which are still in use in the present time. It is probably one of the first dissertations treating of the given subject.

[What is dynamic optimization and how can it be used in quality control?].

By means of an interdisciplinary approach concerning quality problems of tablets an access to the method of dynamic optimization is described. It could be shown that one needs only one equation to understand the basic principles of the application of this method in quality monitoring. This understanding is promoted by graphic methods effectively. Furthermore it is demonstrated that the dynamic optimization can be useful for the organization of quality control when the result of the quality monitoring process depends on the sequence of various tests.
