Preparation of hollow capsule-stabilized gold nanoparticles through the encapsulation of the dendrimer.

The narrow-dispersed dendrimer-encapsulated gold nanoparticles without agglomeration were prepared from the grafted-dendrimers on the surface of the silica microspheres, successively by complexation of the gold chloride anion with the nitrogen atom of the dendrimer and the reduction with sodium borohydride as reductant. The hollow capsule-stabilized gold nanoparticles were prepared through the encapsulation of dendrimer successively by LBL self-assembly process of polyelectrolytes with modified-silica as template and removal of the silica core by hydrofluoric acid. The size of gold nanoparticles was 2.3+/-0.8 nm. The catalytic activity of the capsule-stabilized gold nanoparticles was investigated in the reduction reaction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol with sodium borohydride as reductant.

Silver nanocomposite layer-by-layer films based on assembled polyelectrolyte/dendrimer.

Silver nanocomposite multilayer films were prepared through the in situ method. Multilayer thin films, prepared through the sequential electrostatic deposition of a positively charged third-generation poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) and negatively charged poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), were utilized as nanoreactors for the formation of silver nanoparticles. The silver ions were preorganized in layer-by-layer (LBL) films composed of PAMAM dendrimers and subsequently reduced with hydrogen to prepare the silver nanoparticles. The UV-vis spectrum and profilometer were used to characterize the regular growth of bilayers. UV-vis absorption from plasmon resonance at 435 nm and TEM images indicated the formation of the silver nanoparticles in the multilayer films. The silver nanocomposite LBL films were also constructed on the indium tin oxide-glass and investigated using cyclic voltammetry. The silver nanoparticles in the multilayer films have a stronger negative redox potential. The silver nanocomposite LBL films may have a potential application in the catalysis of reduction of 4-nitrophenol with sodium borohydride.

[Coxsackievirus B3 infection and Keshan disease].

To study the relationship between the infection of enteroviruses and the etiology of keshan disease, we examined the 30 blood samples from the latent-chronic KD patients from Mianning, Xider, Derchang county of Sichuan Province with LDE-PCR (long distance enterovirus-specific RT PCR), two sensitive and specific ELISAs (one for CVB1-6 IgM and the other for CVB1-6 IgG), and three-primer RT PCR specific for CVB3. Results show that: 1) The infection rate of enteroviruses in the samples from the latent-chronic KD patients is higher than from the control group (80% VS 0%, P < 0.01); 2) The CVB1-6 antibody positive rate in latent-chronic KD is higher than that of the control group (IgM, 33% VS 0%, P < 0.01; IgG, 23% VS 0%, P < 0.01); 3) 16.6% (4/24) of enteroviruses positive samples or 40% (4/10) of CVB1-6 IgM antibody positive samples can be identified as CVB3. So, the infection of enter viruses maybe involves in the cause and development of latent-chronic keshan disease, and at least we conclude that the mutation of CVB3 is not the only cause of KD.
