[Pharmacological modifications of radiation methods for studying the kidneys in determining the nature of the stenosis of the pelviureteral segment in patients with nephrolithiasis. Its outpatient diagnosis].

As many as 17 nephrolithiasis and 6 hydronephrosis patients with surgically verified irreversible (n = 13) and reversible (n = 10) stenosis of the pelviureteral segment were examined. To distinguish the character of the stenosis, use was made of excretory urography and dynamic scintigraphy with progesterone, ultrasound, and dynamic scintigraphy with furosemide. In nephrolithiasis patients, dynamic scintigraphy is less informative as compared to other modifications. As compared to hydronephrosis patients, all the modifications indicated are less informative in nephrolithiasis patients in differentiating the character of the stenosis.

[Scintigraphy of the thoracic lymph nodes and lungs using Ga-67 citrate in combined examination of patients with sarcoidosis].

Altogether 121 patients with sarcoidosis, stages I and II, were investigated by scintigraphy of the intrathoracic lymph nodes and lungs with 67Ga-citrate, determining angiotensin-converting enzyme activity and using bronchoalveolar lavage. RP accumulation in the lymph nodes was shown to reflect disease activity and was not associated with the spreading and stage of a process in the lymph nodes. A possibility of control of therapeutic efficacy (reduced disease activity, regression of the affected areas, and the appearance of new foci) was shown on the basis of analysis of the results of corticosteroid therapy of 37 sarcoidosis patients.

[Dynamic scintigraphy of the kidneys using lasix].

Dynamic scintigraphy with lasix (urosemide) in 59 patients with hydronephrosis, nephrolithiasis, chronic pyelonephritis, ureterohydronephrosis on an initial scintigram has shown retention of 99mTc-DTPA in the urinary tracts: an increase or absence of the excretory segment on the activity-time curve up to the appearance of an obstructive type of a curve. Verified operative findings in 19 patients with hydronephrosis and nephrolithiasis have shown a high sensitivity and accuracy of the detection of stenosis of the urinary tracts in the absence of the excretory segment on an initial scintigram irrespective of the fact whether it appears or not on a scintigram after lasix administration. Stenosis of the ureteropelvic segment can be observed in the presence of the excretory segment on an initial scintigram with a prolonged half-period of RP excretion; its 2-fold decrease is noted on a scintigram after lasix administration.

[Radiodiagnosis of vesicoureteral reflux in the early postoperative period following adenectomy of the prostate gland].

Altogether 204 patients aged 43 to 81 were examined in the early postoperative period after adenomectomy of the prostate: 167 transvesical and 37 transureteral adenomectomies were performed. Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) was usually noted on the 4th-5th day after operation therefore investigations aimed at its detection, were conducted at that time. Passive VUR was detected in 72 patients, active VUR in 31 patients. Both passive and active VUR were diagnosed in 23 patients. Passive VUR was detected by means of routine cystography, X-ray TV cystography, direct radionuclide cystography and ultrasonic investigation. The presence of VUR in ultrasonic investigation was established by the signs of dilatation of renal pelves and calyces in filling in of the bladder with antiseptic solution. Ultrasonic investigation made it possible to diagnose VUR of III-IV degree. Its sensitivity was 32%. The sensitivity of direct radionuclide cystography was 92%, that of cystography 51%. Active VUR was detected by miction cystography and X-ray TV miction cystography on the day of removal of drainage tubes from the bladder. The sensitivity of these two methods was 57 and 100%, respectively. Unlike the radionuclide and ultrasonic methods, these two methods made it possible to assess the state of the bladder cervix and urethra. The authors proposed an optimum sequence of the use of diagnostic methods for early detection of VUR and prevention of severe complications.

[Roentgenoradionuclide study of the lymphatic system of the liver (development of the method and criteria for the evaluation of extravascular plasma flow)].

An attempt was made to develop an instrumental method for the evaluation of the extravascular plasma flow (lymph flow) of the liver. Ultrasonography of the liver does not give an opportunity to differentiate between different states including those accompanied by the excess lymph discharge into the liver. The results of intraparenchymal lymphography of the liver were analysed in patients with and without biliary and portal hypertension. The authors have singled out 11 criteria that make it possible to judge an elevated production of the lymph in the liver. This procedure possesses some instability of results due to the equipment, the doctor's experience and the number of attempts. A method of " radioangiolymphography " of the liver based on the administration of diffusing and nondiffusing radionuclides in the afferent vessels of the liver was worked out. Variation in the parameters of the radionuclide circulation seems to reflect significantly extrahepatic circulation in the liver and holds great promise for the use in hepatology.

[Gastroscintigraphy in the evaluation of gastric emptying in patients with duodenal ulcer before and after surgical treatment].

While analysing 246 gastroscintigrams in 186 patients with duodenal ulcer prior to and at varying times after surgery 6 types of the evacuatory curves in preoperative examination have been defined (normal, degree I acceleration, degree I-IV evacuatory retardation) as well as 8 types of the curves after different types of organ sparing operations with vagotomies (degree I-II acceleration, a curve which was close to normal and I-IV degree evacuatory retardation). Gastroscintigraphy results make it possible to specify and quantify changes in stomach evacuatory function in order to select an optimum surgical method and to give an objective evaluation of the results of different types of vagotomy used for the treatment of duodenal ulcer.

[Chemical nature of lachrymal products in the dolphin Tursiops truncatus].

Studies have been made on carbohydrate-protein complex (the ratio of carbohydrate to protein is equal to 1 : 2) in lachrymal products of the dolphin. It was shown that protein component includes 14 amino acids, in which diamino monocarboxylic acids amount to 58%. The ratio of the latter to monoamino dicarboxylic acids is equal to 4.3. Therefore the proteins of lachrymal products are basic ones. This peculiarity of the proteins and the absence of cystein and tryptophan in them indicate that these proteins are represented by histon-like ones, which exhibit high capacity to complex formation. It was demonstrated histochemically, that carbohydrate component of lachrymal reproduct is represented by chondroitin-sulfate B. By thin layer chromatography, neutral monosaccharides (galactose and fucose) were detected, which presumably constitute terminal links of the prosthetic groups.
