[Echographic diagnosis of ovulation in healthy women].

Dynamic echographic changes in measures of the uterus, uterine mucosa, ovaries and dominant follicle during normal ovulatory menstrual cycle were established in 16 multiparas and 17 nulliparas. All measures undergo characteristic changes as they increase during follicular phase of the cycle and reach their maximum paraovulatorily. For establishment of ovulation the changes in anterior-posterior size of the uterus, uterine mucosa, diameter of the dominant follicle and qualitative changes, occurring in it, are of the greatest significance. Mathematical models are made, which allow a comparison and prognosis of the changes in the internal genital organs of a woman in respect to the ovulation.

[Optimization of the composition of granular materials for the preparation of a diazepam-containing suspension].

The composition of auxiliary substances in granular material for the preparation of a diazepam containing suspension for veterinary use was studied. By means of an experimental plan regression models of the physico-mechanical parameters of the preparation were developed. Variants of optimized compositions meeting certain demands regarding the bulk volume, the flow angle, the relative sediment height and the viscosity were elaborated in order to choose the most qualified variant which has to guarantee a high quality of the ready-made drug.

[Dependence between the magnesium and calcium content of the spermatozoa of rams and their motility].

An atomic absorption spectrophotometer AAS1 was used to determine the concentration of magnesium and calcium in seminal cells, plasma, and whole semen of ram ejaculates with a varying percent of motile spermatozoa. Direct proportional correlation was found to exist between the magnesium content in spermatozoa and the percent of spermatozoal motility, and reverse proportional correlation existed between the calcium content and the motility of seminal cells. The plasma of ejaculates with higher cell motility contained more fats as compared with that of ejaculates with lower percent of motile spermatozoa. At the same time the differences in the calcium content were negligible.

[Effect of selenium and DL-methionine on the zinc and tocopherol content of the seminal fluid in rams].

The zinc content in spermatozoa and the tocopherol content in the total semen of rams were determined following the incubation of semen in the course of one hour at 37 degrees C, adding no selenium and methionine. Zinc was evaluated by means of AAS1, and tocopherol was measured spectrophotometrically. It was found that both selenium ions and methionine produced a varying effect on the zinc transport and the tocopherol content. The loss of zinc in spermatozoa increased with the rise of selenium level up to certain values, after which the effect of selenium dropped. Zinc was lost also under the effect of methionine, however, higher levels of methionine did not lead to the further loss of zinc. The incubated samples of semen with the addition of selenium and methionine contained higher amounts of tocopherol as against the control samples.

[Leprosy in Bulgaria. Epidemiology, Clinical forms and treatment (author's transl)].

Leprosy is a rare disease in Bulgaria. There have been 58 cases registered during the last one hundred years. The number of leprous patients in 1980 was 13, most of them came from the northern part of the country. The epidemiological studies indicate, that in some of the cases the infection has been acquired in other countries (South America, Romania, Jugoslavia, The Caucasian region), in most patients, however, the disease has been acquired in Bulgaria by an unknown source of infection. The most frequent clinical form is Lepra lepromatosa and the rarest Lepra indeterminata. All patients have been treated with 4,4-diaminodiphenyl sulphone (DDS), combined with Thiambutosine. The length of treatment depends upon the clinical type of leprosy. The results of the treatment are promising. Only two patient still reveal acid fast bacilli.
