[The determination of the probable term of delivery].

The full-term infants born during the leap year of 1988 in the obstetric-gynecological complex in the town of Dobrich were 2434, but the infants born according to the formula of Negele within the defined term--14 days were 2038. Most women were delivered of infants before the term. Standardization of parturients before and after term is made after estimated term with addition of 5 days to the last menses as the number of deliveries is increased as well. The difference in weight and length of infants before and on term is significant in respect to the infants born on term (with few exceptions) and insignificant between the infants born on term of labour and the infants born after the term. Duration of full-term pregnancy is 280.5-280.7 days. The probable term of delivery is determined more exactly by the formula of Negele with addition of 5 days during leap years and of 6 days during the remaining years to the first day of the last menstruation of pregnant women.

[Obstetrical prognosis by x-ray pelvimetry].

For a period of 44 months 87 deliveries were analyzed by roentgenological pelvimetry, performed by a method, improved by the authors (1982). The relative part of pregnant women with roentgenological pelvimetry was 1.1%. Coefficients of obstetric prognosis were defined in groups retrospectively on the basis of a large material with roentgenological pelvimetry: "compatibility", "conditioned compatibility" and "noncompatibility" as a result of the ratio of the sum of pelvic diameters to the biparietal diameter of the fetus. In the group of "compatibility" of the fetus with the bony pelvis the women, who delivered operatively, had reduced pelvic dimensions with over 0.5 sm in vertex presentations and over 0.3 sm in breech presentations as well as larger weight of the fetus (respectively 4000 and 3500 g). The obstetric prognosis of the groups "compatibility" and "noncompatibility" was exact in 88.9% of the vertex presentations and in 81.5% of the breech presentations.

[Clinical multiplicity of cerebrovascular disorders in childhood].

A group of 107 children with vascular diseases of the nervous system aged 3-14 years have been studied. In 100 children of the study group acute disturbances of the brain blood circulation have been found, out of which 37 children were with transitory ischemic attacks; 29 were found to be with brain ischaemia; 22-with haemorrhages (7 cases with subarchnoidal, 9 cases with intracerebral and 6 cases with subarachnoidal-parenchimatose); 5 children had wenous thromboses; 7 children were with spinal strokes. In other 7 children we found the presence of Sturge-Weber syndrome. Congenital vascular malformations have been found in 32 children (30%), out of which 16 children (15%) with loops and stenosis of the extracranial segments of the internal carotid artery, and another 16 children (15%) with AV-malformations. Congenital and acquired heart diseases are found to be primary cause for the strokes in 12 children (11%). Considerable is the rate of the epileptic seizures in the acute stage of the strokes as well as of the residual epileptic syndromes.

[Gamma-glutamyltransferase activity in the serum and the mean-cell erythrocyte volume of patients with chronic ethylism and chronic liver diseases (preliminary report)].

The dynamics of the enzyme gamma-glutamyltransferase (gamma GT) was followed up in 34 patients: 17 patients with liver cirrhosis, 9 patients with chronic hepatitis and 8 patients with liver steatosis. In the patients with alcoholic cirrhosis the activity of gamma GT rapidly fell in hospital conditions which is related to the forced abstinence. In the cirrhotic patients with nonalcoholic etiology no changes in gamma GT activity were found. In the patients with chronic hepatitis and liver steatosis with alcoholic etiology the gamma GT activity resembled that of alcoholic cirrhotic patients. The gamma GT activity fell most sharply in the patients with liver steatosis which is explained by the mild and reversible liver lesions characteristic for this disease. The mean erythrocyte volume determined by electronic blood cell counter shows a tendency toward macrocytosis in all chronic alcoholic patients. Macrocytosis is also found by ordinary microscopic examination of the blood cells.

[Genealogic studies in genuine partial epilepsy].

Clinical--electroencephalographic (EEG) investigation was performed in 12 families. In the study were included 12 epileptics with partial seizures in whom the katamnestic follow up from 2 to 6 years provided clinical, EEG and genetic data for the so called primary partial epilepsy 24 parents and 14 siblings. In four of the Children with epilepsy the seizures were of the "Rolandic" type; in 5--"psychomotor"; and in 3--hemiconvulsive. No data for structural brain lesion investigation were found. Rapid and long lasting therapeutic effect was achieved in all of the cases. The EEG showed focal paroxysmal activity in all of the diseased and in 11 of the siblings, in 5 of them were found epileptic seizures of the same type as in the probands. The possibilities of a genetic predisposition to development of an epileptogenic focus and its clinical Expression in members of the families in discussed.

[Economic effect of using a comprehensive program for the control of Varroa infestation].

The control of Varroa infestation in honeybees embraces a system of veterinary measures requiring an overall economic evaluation as a prerequisite for the wide use of a special programme. A comparative economic analysis of the dynamics of the process is made for two periods: a basic one, when no programmed control measures have been taken, and a planned one, when the programme has been put into practice and the results thereof by the end of the time are compared with those of the basic period. Employed has been the method of the index factorial analysis taking into consideration the complex and individual effects of definite factors, contributing to such effects. The increased absolute volume of material expenditures (chiefly therapeutic agents) is reflected in the absolute and the relative growth in the end-product economic results obtained with the two apiaries studied.

[Malignant tumor originating from the interstitial cells of the testis (leydigoma)].

The authors describe a very rare and very interesting case of malignant tumour, originating from the interstitial cells of the testis, developed in a male of 53, with multiple metastases. The patient developed chronic hypocorticism, owing to bilateral metastases in adrenal glands and finally followed by an Addison coma. The case is of interest because no data are available in literature about metastases in adrenals with and adrenal insufficiency advancement.

Acute Kidney Injury

[Treatment of hypertension with the preparation Tendor].

The hypertensive preparation "Tendor" of the Hungarian firm "Chinoin" was applied in the treatment at the Clinic of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases. For the period from 1975-1977, 28 hospital patients and 8 out-patient department department patients with essential hypertension were followed up. Especially good effect was obtained among the patients in II and II stage with light and moderate hypertension degree among the group followed up. The favourable effect of the preparation is manifested as early as the first 10-12 days after treatment, without the combination of "Tendor" with some other hypotensive remedies.
