Processes of skin and long tubular bones' reparative regeneration under the action of serum albumin and alpha-fetoprotein on the body were studied with the use of EPR and histological methods. Relations of spin probe rotatory mobility in cell suspensions and morphological change of examined tissues are shown. It is established that the biological activity of alpha-fetoprotein is more pronounced than that of serum albumin in the effect on the young connective tissue. The stimulating effect of the embryonic protein is demonstrated only in the first week of reparative process while that of serum albumin appeared much more late.
The authors presented some data on the lysozyme content and adhesion features of the sputum in 31 patients: 19 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis and 12 patients with chronic bronchitis against a background of bronchial asthma. Marked reverse correlation between the lysozyme content and sputum adhesion values (r = -0.79) was found. With the subsiding of exacerbation and remission occurrence the lysozyme content increased and a sputum adhesion value reduced. In the exacerbation phase the mean lysozyme content in the sputum was 3.6 +/- 0.1 mg/mg of protein, and in remission occurrence 6.9 +/- 0.2 mg/mg of protein. The adhesion value was 0.6 X 10(4) +/- 0.22 X 10(4) N/m2 and 0.32 X 10(4) +/- 0.01 X 10(4) N/m2, respectively. The time course of the lisozyme content in the sputum of patients with chronic bronchitis can be used as a prognostic factor to assess remission occurrence rates and the nature of change of rheological features of the sputum.

Absorption and passage through the dense layer of plasma membranes of rat hepatocytes and rabbit red blood cell ghosts, steroid hormones labelled with 3H were studied. The degree of absorption of steroid hormones by plasma membranes decreased in the following succession: progesterone greater than testosterone greater than oestrone greater than prednisolone greater than oestriol. The degree of the hormone absorption correlated with the solubility in lipids and with the effect of the enzyme release from the lysosomes. At the same time it is in inverse ratio to the speed of passage through the dense layer of the membranes. The nature of absorption of the steroid hormones is independent of the origin of plasma membranes.
Influence of corticosterone on the hare's erythrocyte ghosts is studied by the spin-label method. There exists a correlation between the maximal variation region in the rotational diffusion "frequency" of the spin-labels, covalently linked with the membrane protein, and the hormones concentration range within which the effect of corticosterone on the functions of the erythrocyte membranes manifests itself to the greatest degree (permeability to ions, hemolytic effects, etc).
It is suggested that senior-course medical students be trained in the use of the most popular medical devices and equipment intended for functional diagnosis and treatment and that a specialized course including lectures, methodological aids and specialized practice in medical equipment be organized.

The rate of the spin probe reduction by tongue homogenates was measured on postmortem days 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 105, 135, 150, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225, and 240 in order to evaluate the possibility of determining the time of death by this test. The constant of the rate of phenol probe reduction by tongue homogenates was used as the diagnostic sign of the time elapsed since death. The results indicate that using this parameter, the time of death may be determined within the period from 4 to 8 months postmortem.
