[Laser correlation spectrometer for immunological and virological analyses].

A correlative laser spectrometer is recommended to record the immunologic reactions and differentiate the virus particles. The correlator used in this spectrometer is of the three-bit type; it measures the base line and allows preliminary signal processing. The correlative laser spectrometer is designed for application in clinical diagnostic laboratories.

Electronics↗

[Laser indicator of immunological reactions].

The instrument described was designed for measurement of the scattered light integral intensity; the light is scattered within a volume where immunologic reaction takes place. Operation speed and sensitivity are the merits of this instrument, as compared to standard ways of the immunologic reactions observation.

[Laser mass-spectrometric medical microanalysis].

Quantitative analyses of the whole microcomposition at a time without using the standards are shown to be realizable by the laser mass-spectrometry carried out on the domestic device EMAL-2. The techniques of sample preparation are simple and may be applied to analyze the wide range of medical and biological specimens. From the obtained results it is obvious that the mass-spectrometric method is useful in microanalyzing element compositions of medical and biological specimens.

[Dispersion analysis of viral suspensions by the technic of optical mixing spectroscopy].

To evaluate the heterogeneity of virus populations and determinations of virus monoparticle size in suspensions, a dispersion analysis by the method of spectroscopy of optic mixing was developed. The parameters of influenza USSR/Khabarovsk and parainfluenza Sendai virus suspensions were measured in correlation spectrometer and the results were computerized.

[Laser flow-type counter-analyzer for microparticles].

A flow-type instrument for studying microparticles distributed in liquid suspensions is presented. With the instrument, one can determine concentrations of microparticles, their size distribution, perform computer-based data analysis. Considerations are also given to the main units of the instrument, their characteristics, and data acquisition and processing.

[Influenza virus hemagglutinin: hydrodynamic properties and molecular weight].

Hydrodynamic properties of hemagglutinin isolated with bromelain from influenza virus were studied. The sedimentation constant determined by the method of analytical ultracentrifugation was 9.17 +/- 0.17 S. The translation diffusion coefficient estimated by the method of optic mixing spectroscopy comprised (3.6 +/- 0.1) X 10(+7) cm2/s. A comination of both the constants in Svedberg's equation allowed calculation of the hemagglutinin molecular weight (approximately 230,000) which suggests a three-subunit structure of the molecule. The hydrodynamic diameter and friction ratio of an isolated molecule were calculated.
