First indication and contraindication of surgical procedures are discussed. In comparison of two surgical methods for the treatment of gingival recessions the better effect is by the two-phase-surgery. There is a dependence on age- and tooth-groups.
1378 individuals of 15-44 years of age were examined for atrophic processes of the periodontia. 11% of the individuals showed typical inflammation - free gingival recession. Great importance must be attributed the McCall's festooms and the wedge shaped defects in cervical enamel, dentin or cement.
Following the real pathogenesis-concepts of periodontal diseases proposals are given for stomatological care, gradual and postgradual education and research work. This material is the short summary of a large one which was discussed at the 3d working session of the Society of Periodontology of GDR.

The authors examined the oral hygiene conditions in patients who had been instructed in adequate dental and oral hygiene 3 years ago. It was stated that a single individual instruction without subsequent control is not sufficient to realize plaque-free dentitions. The mean OHI of the patients under consideration was 4.7.
