[Ion-exchange sorption of calcium and strontium from blood and its plasma].

The authors explored the statics of Ca2+ and Sr2+ sorption from a saline, imitating the salt (mineral) composition of the blood plasma, and from blood plasma. As the plasma concentration was raised, there was a consistent decrease in ion sorption of KU = 2 X 8 cationite characteristic for M2+ complex formation in solution. Conventional constants for formation of complex compounds and mole proportions (%) of free (M2+) and complex forms (MLx-) metals were calculated. The time course of calcium and strontium sorption on KU = 2 X 8 ion-exchange resin from saline and blood plasma was studied. It was discovered that sorption from saline proceeded according to the externally diffusion kinetics type, whereas sorption from plasma according to the mixed type of the ion-exchange kinetics. The kinetic ratios were calculated for the indicated versions of sorption experiments. The mechanisms of sorption found in model experiments were extrapolated to dog experiments with blood decalcination, which supported the adequacy of experimental hemosorption under consideration.

[Calcium desorption from the cornea while using complex-forming substances].

The time course of calcium desorption from the eye cornea and the efficacy of the use of complex-forming substances during desorption were examined. Experiments with labeled calcium showed an active absorption of the ions by the normal cornea thereby making it turbid. The removal of labeled calcium from an isolated eye and from corneal pieces while using a combination of complex-forming substances and diffusion facilitating-papain was accompanied by the lowering of tissue turbidity. Application of such combinations might eliminate, in some cases, the necessity of surgical operations on the cornea.

[Cation-exchange method of determining the state of magnesium, calcium and strontium in blood plasma].

A method of cation metabolism on cationite KY=2X8 in the balanced-salt form was applied to the study of sorption of Mg2+, Ca2+ and Sr2+ ions from physiological solutions and solutions containing blood plasma of dogs and physiological saline in different ratio. Balance constants, which permitted to determine mol fractions (or the content percentage), of "free" and "bound" ions of the corresponding metals were calculated from the experiments.

[The kinetics of radionuclide distribution between the plasma and formed elements of the blood in dogs].

The investigation of microkinetics of 90Sr, 137Cs and 32P penetration into erythrocytes of dog's blood was made. It was shown that processes of penetration of 90Sr and 32P are monomolecular. The slow stage is monomolecular destruction of complexes of 90Sr and 32P with plasma components. The process of 137Cs penetration is bimolecular. The slowest stage of 137Cs penetration is adsorption on the surface of erythrocytes.
