A Web-based platform for nursing monographs publishing.

Nursing students at Faculty of Nursing, University of Santo Amaro-Brazil, develop monographic study by the end of graduation. This study aims to describe the development process of a web site to make available monographs full-text. Materials were organized according to year of deliver, professor name, and by research area. Full-text documents were edited as Portable Format Files (PDF) and web pages containing summary of monograph titles, professor names, and research areas link each title to abstract web pages that link to PDF full-text. This platform development is a contribution for the knowledge in national nursing area.

[Decision-support guideline in obstetrical nursing: application of fuzzy logic technique].

Fuzzy Logic has been used as an approach for knowledge representation and a technique for modeling Clinical Decision-Support Systems. In considering such technique underutilization for modeling nursing clinical decisions, this essay aims to present general notions about this technique and through it to develop a theoretical formulation of practice guideline to support decision in amniotomy cases for pregnant women in normal labor.

[Nursing interventions for the most frequent complications during hemodialysis procedure: literature review].

Hemodialysis procedure has potential complications and nurses must be able to intervent on them. Considering this context, this article aims to describe the most frequent hemodialysis-related complications as well as nursing-related interventions. This bibliographic review consists in LILACS, BDENF and MEDLINE search using pertinent descriptors. Results demonstrated that major complications are: hypotension, hypertension, cramps, nausea and vomiting, headache, chest and low back pain, scratching, fever and shriving. For these complications there are specific nursing interventions that can be delivered. It was concluded that nurse's role is essential for monitoring, identification, and intervention in such complications and that this role also is a differential to obtain quality in hemodialysis procedure. However, there is a need to perform more research in nursing area to better define the nurse's role.

[Use of Internet resources in nursing: a review].

Resources of Internet system are widely popularized in most of all human activities in the society. This paper aims to identify and to describe major modalities of Internet utilization in nursing areas of Education, Care, and Research. This is a bibliographic review which data source was MEDLINE database, using pertinent descriptors for the focused areas. From referred publications, it was selected 63 articles. Major utilization in Education area is the development of applications to promote distance education; in Patient Education area is the development of applications to make health information available; in Care area are the applications to make care protocols available to promote evidence-based practice, and in Research area is online data collection. It was concluded that nursing is using Internet resources in a satisfactory way, and it has contributed for the profession evolution.
