[Automated information-diagnostic system for hereditary diseases in childhood].

This article describes computer-based information-and-diagnostic system dealing with child hereditary diseases which makes in possible to organize automated consultative service on a wide range of monogene and chromosome syndromes. The system is oriented for sorting out a narrow differential-and-diagnostic row from 1200 of genetically determined diseases at the stage of pre-laboratory child examination. The choice of diagnoses in the system is based on the analysis of the likeness of phenotypical manifestation of the syndromes described in literature with the case under analysis. The system envisages information exchange with a physician in a dialogue using the natural language. The system is based on IBM-370 computer and can be operated from remote video device in the data TV transmitting mode.

[Use of nuclear magnetic resonance tomography in the diagnosis of diseases of the central nervous system in children of various ages].

The authors analyse the results of NMR tomography of 48 children (5 mos.-14 years) with various diseases of the CNS system mainly connected with pre and perinatal lesions. High percentage of various disorders in the formation of the brain and spinal cord as the main neurological pathology, is noted. Problems of pathogenesis of atrophic changes of the brain and pathology of corpus callosum are discussed.

[Effectiveness of the therapeutic use of complexones in various diseases of the extrapyramidal system in children].

The article is devoted to therapy of some extrapyramidal diseases related to accumulation of biomicroelements in the basal ganglia. Two clinical observations (Fahr's disease and Hallervodren-Spatz' disease) in children are described. In both cases therapy with complexones (xydifon, penicillamine, deferoxamine) combined with antioxidants, calcium antagonists, drugs improving the microcirculation, etc., produced a marked positive effect. This was the first case of using complexones for treating Fahr's disease. Possible ways of correcting the metabolism of trace elements in diseases affecting the central nervous system, in particular perspectives of wider application of complexones are discussed.

[Evaluation of the protective action of diphosphonic compounds against a T-lymphocyte lesion by antilymphocyte serum].

Rabbit antilymphocyte serum (ALS) and complement were used in doses killing 50% of lymphocytes (staining with a 1% solution of trypan blue). In rosette-forming and blast-cell transformation reactions the counts of rosette forming and transformed cells were 60 and 24% respectively, as compared to those in controls. After adding 0.1 ml of 10 mM solution of potassium hydroxyethylene-diphosphonate belonging to a group of synthetic diphosphonates, the protective effect was observed shown by that the counts of rosette-forming and transformed lymphocytes did not differ from the control ones, wherein the reactions were produced with intact cells.
