[A histochemical analysis of the enzymes of the enterocyte transport and bioenergetics in rat small intestine after vagotomy and dibunol administration].

It was shown that the vagotomy leads to the elevation of the activity of alkaline phosphatase (AP) 7 days after the operation and to the decrease of its activity 30 days after the operation, and to the decrease of the activity of succinic dehydrogenase (SDG) 7 and 30 days after the operation. Introduction of dibunol leads to normalization of these disturbances of the activity of AP and SDG induced by vagotomy.

[Effect of tissue-specific proliferation inhibitors on the level of mitotic activity and cell adhesion in disordered innervation].

In the work there was studied the influence of hepatic chalones on the level of mitotic activity and on the degree of adhesion of hepatocytes after the violation of parasympathetic and sympathetic innervation under the physiological conditions of liver function and in regenerating organ. Some definite regularities were revealed in the change of the power of linkage among the cells of liver parenchyma after the disturbance of its innervation and chalones affected. Significant differences in the effect of the influence of tissue inhibitors of proliferation on the process of regeneration in liver, which has intact or disturbed innervation were discovered. Particularly one can underline the effect of the loss of hepatocytes sensitivity to chalones in vagotomized liver.

[Chromatin matrix activity in hepatocyte nuclei after disturbance of the hepatic vagal innervation].

The level of matrix activity of extranucleolar and nucleolar chromatin in hepatocytes of white noninbred rats has been studied in dynamics after disturbance of the vagal innervation. In order to estimate the labelling intensity of nuclear structures, the histoautoradiographic method is used. After bilateral subdiaphragmal vagotomy at early stages (1-2 weeks) the level of the nucleoplasm and nucleolus increases essentially, and by the 30th day a tendency to its normalization is noted. A conclusion is made that the peripheral nervous system influences the intensity of metabolic processes in the nucleus.

[Complex analysis of the state of sinusoid vessels of the liver after disturbance of innervation].

By means of light, electron microscopy and morphometry, the state of the sinusoid vessels and cells of their lining has been investigated in 7, 14, 30, 60 and 90 days after bilateral subdiaphragmal vagotomy. In the days mentioned the cross section area of the sinusoid vessels and amount of active labelled Kupffer cells significantly increase (except day 90 ). By the end of the 3d month these parameters decrease, but they do not reach the control level. Ultrastructure of the endothelial cells and Kupffer cells is changed, phagocytic activity of the latter is increased. The greatest destructive changes take place in Kupffer cells, especially during first two months. By the end of the 3d month there is certain tendency to normalization.

[Morphological analysis of the effects of sympathetic denervation on the immune mechanisms of the intestine].

The influence of surgical sympathetic denervation on the morphological parameters of the effector part of immune protection in the rat small intestine was investigated at different time periods after the operation. The disturbances in sympathetic innervation leads to the activation of the immune system. The activation is expressed in an increase in the amount of intraepithelial lymphocytes in intestinal villi and the amount of lymphocytes and plasmocytes in mucous tunica propria. The morphological changes observed correlate with a decrease in intestinal epithelial thickness. This may be caused by increased stimulation of the intestinal immune protection by antigens contained in the chyme .

[Action of hepatic chalones on the proliferation of hepatocytes from intact and denervated livers].

The paper is concerned with the action of chalones, tissue-specific inhibitors of cell proliferation, on DNA synthesis and mitotic activity of hepatocytes in the intact and denervated liver during regeneration. Experiments were made on Wistar rats. Liver denervation was performed by bilateral subdiaphragmal vagotomy. In control and vagotomized animals, two thirds of the liver was resected. The data obtained indicate that chalones noticeably reduce the number of DNA-synthesizing cells and mitoses in the regenerating liver of intact animals. During regeneration of the denervated liver, chalones do not produce any inhibitory action on the intensity of proliferation. Analysis of the data obtained allows a conclusion that preservation of adequate innervation of the organ is needed for realization of the action of hepatic chalones.

[Reactions of Paneth cells of the rat jejunum to section of the vagus nerves (ultrastructural analysis)].

Dynamics of ultrastructural alterations of Paneth cells (PC) of the rat jejunum have been investigated after bilateral subdiaphragmal trunkal vagotomy (7, 14, 30 and 60 days). This operation results in a profound ultrastructural rearrangement in PC organization, which is especially manifested on the 7th and 14th days. The cisterns and canaliculi of the endoplasmic reticulum dilate, the Golgi complex structure is disturbed, the matrix of mitochondria is cleared, their crists are fragmented, large vacuoles with electron transparent contents appear, total amount of the secretory granules and relative number of their immature forms increase, the secreory granules form and topography of their core is changed, small structures resembling microtubules appear in them. Beginning from the second week, morphological alterations of compensatory-adaptive character progressively increase: the number of free ribosomes grows large and large mitochondria appear.

[Effect of vagotomy on the formation and development of a chronic experimental (acetate) ulcer of the duodenum in rats].

Bilateral subdiaphragmatic truncal vagotomy done either 11 days before or 10 days after induction of an acetic (Okabe's modification) duodenal ulcer in rats results in acceleration of the process of its spontaneous healing. The time of epithelization shortens, reduction of connective tissue growth is accelerated, contraction of tissues around the ulcer intensified, tunica muscularis regenerates almost completely. At the same time there are some alterations in the processes of formation at the site of the ulcer: newly forming villi are smaller than in control rats, they have abnormal configuration; newly forming duodenal glands often undergo cystic extension.

[Morphologic and histochemical indices of hepatic function following bilateral subdiaphragmatic vagotomy].

A complex morpho-functional investigation of the rat liver was performed after bilateral subdiaphragmal vagotomy by means of light, electron microscopy methods and a quantitative histochemical method. Some ultrastructural disorders in hepatocytes and in stellate reticuloendotheliocytes were revealed, with their maximal manifestation 7 days after vagotomy. At later stages (45 and 90 days), compensatory-restorative processes develop resulting in considerable (but not complete) normalization of the organ's structure. Quantitative histochemical investigations have demonstrated that even at the highest degree of the resulted disorders the liver preserves its ability to synthesize and accumulate glycogen, but the intensity of the process is considerably lowered. Functional changes are reversible in their character and correlate to the degree of structural disorders.

[Effect of vagotomy on permeability processes in the structural components of rat liver].

The method of intravital fluorescence microscopy was used to study permeability by sodium fluoresceine of the structural components of the rat liver 7,21 and 60 days after bilateral subphrenic vagotomy. It was found that vagotomy resulted in a permeability rise both of the liver microvessels and hepatocyte plasma membranes. Later the temporal indices return to the initial levels.

[Ultrastructural analysis of the effect of vagotomy on the state of the exocrine portion of the rat pancreas].

Dynamics of reactions in the main components of the exocrine part of the rat pancreas (capillary, nerve, pancreocyte) was subjected to ultrastructural analysis at bilateral subdiaphragmatic vagotomy within 24 hours--30 days. It was stated that certain ultrastructural shifts developed in all the components mentioned above; at first they are within the limits of physiological parameters (the first three days), and then destructive processes occur (up to destruction of a part of cells) reaching their maximum by the end of the first--beginning of the second week and having a focal character. Then compensatory-recovery rearrangements begin to predominate, and by the 30th day they result in a considerable but not yet complete normalization of the ultrastructural organization of the gland. Three stages (phases) can be mentioned in the development of the neurodistrophic process: the first--stress reaction of the organ and the whole organism to the operation; the second--predominance of destructive changes; the third--development of compensatory-adaptive processes. Possible mechanisms of the rearrangements occurring are discussed.

[Morphofunctional stateof the cholinergic nervous apparatus of the normal duodenum and the duodenum after subdiaphragmatic vagotomy].

Histochemical study of the intramural nervous apparatus of the duodenum was carried out under normal conditions and following bilateral subphrenic vagotomy. Morphometric and microspectrofluorimetric methods gave informations on the reduction of the number of the cholinergic nervous fibers and of the acetylcholinesterase activity in them after a brief increase of these indices during the first 24 hours after vagotomy, with their subsequent return to the initial values.

[Metabolic unit in the microcirculatory system of the exocrine part of the pancreas].

Metabolism between exocrine pancreocytes and blood is mediated with the participation of the metabolic section of the microcirculatory system. It includes: blood capillaries, pericapillary space, intracellular gaps and metabolite distributional complex (basal-lateral folds of pancreocytic plasmolemma). As demonstrated morphological and histochemical changes developed in exocrine pancreocytes and in the metabolic section of the pancreatic gland at different stages of the secretory cycle, interconnections between them are complex and dynamical. All the elements of the metabolic section undergo a certain reconstruction adequate to functional state of pancreocytes. Metabolism between glandular cells and the vascular bed is regulated by structural reconstruction of pancreocytic plasmolemma. A certain functional specialization in plasmolemmic folds is noted: basal-lateral folds regulate transport between pericapillary space and intracellular gaps, while the main function of the lateral folds is to transport substances by means of pinocytosis.
