[Self stimulation against a background of action of blockers of the synthesis of proteins and oligopeptides].

The experiments on rabbits have demonstrated that blockade of protein synthesis by the administration of cycloheximide and actinomycin D abolishes self-stimulation in the central nervous system. The treatment with ACTH fragment (ACTH4-10) restored the self-stimulation. Unlike ACTH, injections of pentagastrin, Met-enkephalin, Leu-enkephalin and cholecystokinin were ineffective. The present study shows that ACTH4-10 plays an important role in genetic determination of self-stimulation behaviour.

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone↗

[Dynamics of nociceptive sensitivity and blood levels of steroid hormones in Wistar rats].

Changes in nociceptive sensitivity and the level of steroid hormones (corticosterone and testosterone) in the plasma of male Wistar rats were studied in repeatedly applied painful stimuli. According to the changes in nociceptive sensitivity the animals were divided into 6 groups. A reliable corticosterone increment and testosterone decrement in the plasma were caused by repeatedly applied painful stimuli. The data observed could be used as individual indices characteristic of animals of this strain.

[Reactions of neurons in the dental projection area of the rabbit sensomotor cortex to photic, acoustic and painful stimulation of the dental pulp].

In experiments on unrestrained rabbits interactions of sound (tone, click), light and pain excitation occurring during stimulation of the dental pulp in the neurons of the cortical sensomotor zone, in the area of representation of the dental afferents were studied by the microelectrode method. It was shown that bi- and polysensor convergence of excitation is realized in the cells of this area. It is suggested that convergence of excitation underlies the mechanisms of formation of the integral systemic pain reaction during stimulation of the dental receptors.

Acoustic Stimulation↗

[Dental receptor projections to the sensomotor zone of the rabbit cerebral cortex].

Topic organization of the dental representation was studied in experiments on rabbits by the method of induced potentials. Every tooth proved to be locally represented in the sensory-motor zone of the brain cortex. These zones do not overlap in the case of stimulation of the threshold strength. Topic dental projection region occupies a territory including fields Par I, Praecag, Preacgr, and PC.

[The individual characteristics of the nociceptive sensitivity of Wistar rats correlated with the content of steroid hormones in the blood plasma].

In male rats of Wistar strain individual nociceptive sensitivity properties were studied in correlation with steroid hormones level in the plasma. Seven groups of experimental animals were observed remarkable for dynamics of nociceptive sensitivity. Repeatedly applied test painful stimuli caused reliable changes of corticosterone and testosterone level in the plasma. Individual differences were found of the level of steroid hormones in the plasma in rats from different groups.

[Calcium channels of neurons and mechanism of action of low intensity 337 nm laser irradiation].

The effect of low intensity laser irradiation upon calcium current of Helix neurons was studied by means of intracellular dialysis technique under voltage clamp conditions. It was found that irradiation with the rate dose 0.4 J/cm2 decreased calcium currents irreversibly without changing the channels voltage-dependence. The molecule of carotenoid is assumed to be the photosensitive gating particle of the calcium channel.

Action Potentials↗

[Individual characteristics of the nociceptive sensitivity of rats during the formation of a negative emotional reaction].

Changes in dynamics of nociceptive sensitivity in male rats of Wistar strain were studied during formation of negative emotional reaction. The procedure of blood's taking from the tail after its tip's amputation was used as negative emotional factor. The animals were divided into six groups by the criterion of individual properties of nociceptive sensitivity dynamics. On the whole it was found to decrease. Besides, one more group (the seventh group) was found with profound hypoalgesia caused by action of the negative emotional factor. It was also shown that formation of negative emotional reaction in two groups was not accompanied by changes of nociception. The data suggest a selective influence of negative emotional factor on nociceptive sensitivity.
