[Individual characteristics of the nociceptive sensitivity of rats during the formation of a negative emotional reaction].

Changes in dynamics of nociceptive sensitivity in male rats of Wistar strain were studied during formation of negative emotional reaction. The procedure of blood's taking from the tail after its tip's amputation was used as negative emotional factor. The animals were divided into six groups by the criterion of individual properties of nociceptive sensitivity dynamics. On the whole it was found to decrease. Besides, one more group (the seventh group) was found with profound hypoalgesia caused by action of the negative emotional factor. It was also shown that formation of negative emotional reaction in two groups was not accompanied by changes of nociception. The data suggest a selective influence of negative emotional factor on nociceptive sensitivity.

[Determination of human blood and urine progestins by the method of competitive protein binding on the basis of guinea pig transprogestin].

The use as a testing system of transprogestin or of progesterone-binding protein (obtained from a pregnant guinea pig) with a high specificity to progesterone and a number of its affiliated metabolites increased the sensitivity of the method considerably, permitting to determine progestins in the blood and urine of nonpregnant women (at various phases of the sexual cycle) and in men. Dynamics of the given progestins in the urine correlates with the changes of their blood level and permits complete and objective assessment of the ovarian and placental functions in women with various physiological conditions.

[Rabbit testosterone-binding globulin and its use in concurrent protein-binding analysis].

The existence of testosterone-binding globulin (TBC) homogeneous by the association constant (of the 10(8) M-1 order) and sedimentation characteristics (sedimentation coefficient--4S) was demonstrated in various groups of rabbits (mature males and females, pregnant females and fetuses, immature males). The level of the TBG binding capacity failed to show any marked differences in all the ontogenetic groups. The TBG level was rather close in the rabbit mother and fetus. Estradiol, estron, progesterone, cortizol possessed no affinity to this protein. Dehydrotestosterone affinity was about three times greater than that of testosterone. When TBG was used in the competitive protein-binding analysis of testosterone and other protein-bound androgens in the blood plasma of men, women and rabbits (male and female) there were obtained results coinciding with those of other authors. This permitted to recommend TBG for wide practical use in the competitive protein-binding analysis.

[Endocrine function of the ovaries of blue foxes (Alopex ladopus) during postnatal ontogenesis].

Progesterone, androgen and estradiol levels in the blood plasma were radioimmunologically studied in female Alopex lagopus aged 2 to 9 months with different weight at birth. The blood sex steroid level showed a sharp elevation at the age of 4 months. The weight gain stops by this time. Thus, by the age of 4 months in females the sexual system becomes mature. From the age of 5 to 8 months there is a fall of the blood sex hormones, corresponding to anestrus, and by the age of 9 months there is a significant rise in the level of sex hormones pointing to activation of the ovarian function by the reproductive season. Large females had a tendency to earlier sexual maturation in comparison with the small ones. Since in the female animals of the species under study two peaks of sexual hormone concentration were revealed in the course of a year it is suggested that at the preceding evolutional stages representatives of the family were capable of reproducing twice a year.

[Effect of prostaglandin F2 alpha on the corpus luteum of the ovary and peripheral blood plasma progesterone concentration in pregnant mice].

A study was made of the effect of prostaglandin F2 alpha on submicroscopic and histochemical structure of the yellow bodies and progesterone concentration in peripheral blood plasma in the pre-implantation period of embryonal development. Electron microscopy, radioimmunoassay and histochemical technique were applied. Apart from the signs of steroidogenesis preservation in luteocytes of the control group yellow bodies (during elevation of prostaglandin F2 alpha concentration in the body), there was a significant reduction of the activity in them of the key enzyme of the steroidogenesis, 3-beta-steroid dehydrogenase. Attention is paid to variation of the capillary system of the yellow bodies, induced by prostaglandin F2 alpha. This variation was marked by the absence of fenestration and by reactive status of endotheliocytes. It is concluded that prostaglandin F2 alpha primarily affects functional properties of steroid-producing cells. The authors suggest that there are potential links between the reduced progesterone level in peripheral blood plasma and submicroscopic changes in luteic cells and yellow body capillaries.

[Progesterone and 17-beta-estradiol concentration in the peripheral blood of pregnant mice at various stages of pre-implantation period of embryonal development].

Radioimmunological method was applied to the study of progesteron and 17 beta-estradiol profiles in the peripheral blood plasma of pregnant mice from the time of the zygote formation (the 1st day of gestation) to the blastocyst implantation (the 5th day of gestation). The peak of a progesteron concentration in the plasma and the onset of reduction in the 17 beta-estradiol concentration were noted in the evening of the 3rd day of pregnancy. From this period there was a fall in the 17 beta-estradiol and progesterone content in the blood plasma. In the evening of the 3rd day of pregnancy the 14-18-cell embryos passed from the oviduct into the uterine cornu. The role played by the embryo in changes of the maternal hormonal status is discussed.

[Evaluation of changes in electrophysiological and hormonal parameters in rabbits resulting from short-term low-intensity ultra-high-frequency irradiation].

The paper is devoted to study of the influence of short-term low-level microwave irradiation (6GHz, modulation 2 Hz, average intensity 0.015 mW/cm2, exposure time 50 min) on some electrophysiological and hormonal parameters in rabbits. No reliable changes in cardiac and respiratory rhythms, electromyogram intensity as well as cortisol, testosterone, insulin and thyroxine level in rabbits' blood were found.

[Changes in the content of substance P, beta-endorphin and corticosterone in the hypothalamus and blood of rats with emotional stress after the administration of the delta sleep-inducing peptide].

The aim of this study was to investigate time-related changes in substance P (SP) beta-endorphin (BE), and corticosteron (CORT) levels induced by DSIP administration in rats subjected to emotional stress. Experiments were carried out in male Wistar and August rats with different resistance to emotional stress. At night rats were tied by their tails to the backside of the special cages. These stress-inducing procedure was repeated for 12 hours daily in the course of 5 days. SP and BE immunoreactivity in the hypothalamus and plasma and blood CORT level were determined radioimmunologically. Six groups of animals were formed: 1. control animals; 2. stressed animals; 3. rats which received DSIP in a dose of 60 nmol/kg one hour before decapitation; 3. rats to which DSIP was injected 24 hours before decapitation; 5. stressed rats to which DSIP was injected one hour before decapitation during the 5th exposure to stress; 6. stressed rats to which DSIP was injected 12 hours before the 5th exposure to stress, i.e. 24 hours before decapitation. Our experiments showed that DSIP administration induced marked changes in SP, BE, and CORT levels in the hypothalamus and blood plasma. This suggests that long-term stress-coping effects of DSIP in underlied by considerable changes in the content of other oligopeptides and hormones. Evidently, DSIP triggers these processes inducing a cascade of interrelated molecular reactions which are different in Wistar and August rats. It seems likely that DSIP administration stimulates the mechanisms of resistance in August rats to a lesser extent than in Wistar rats.
