Father-daughter incest: 25 years of experience of psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the victims.

This study deals with the immediate and long lasting effects of father-daughter incest through the psychoanalytic-psychotherapeutic investigation of, firstly, a group of 12 adolescent girls during the violent crisis created by the sudden revelation of incest and, secondly, a group of 12 adult former victims with no apparent crisis in their development, the incest having remained unrevealed. Having been a practitioner of psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the victims of paternal incest for the last 25 years the author's main concern in this study is to try to establish the basic theoretical issues that would favour a better understanding of incestuous trauma and a more effective approach to its treatment.

[The exile from self.].

In this text, three psychotics, Sarah, Jacob and Jonathan ask us the question : From where were they exiled? We come to understand that Sarah's was from her origins. Jacob sees himself ejected from his own being. As for Jonathan, his will be even worse; he must exile himself from his delusions, from his craziness, because he seems to be heading towards a real cure. Thus the other question : What is the nature of the suffering of psychotics? Very strangely, the most forceful rupture arises when these patients must remove themselves from their craziness. They themselves know that nothing is easier for them than to allow themselves to founder there; the mentally ill are attracted, as to a magnet, to the desert the abyss, the non-being, in short to self-exile.

[The history of the journal and the group " Interprétation " within the psychiatric and psychoanalytical movement in Québec.].

This article reconstitutes especially the history of the group which directed the review Interpretation, since it also animated several other activities, seminars, colloquia, Saturday meetings, book publishings, etc. The group's interest was oriented more towards the human than the health sciences, although the latter were covered as well. But it was psychoanalysis which occupied the center of the history of Interpretation, a lively history, rich in colour, strewn with ambushes, with violent events; a humble history as well, on the scale of its modest means, but one wich perhaps will have contributed to the international psychoanalytic movement.
