We have reported a case of diffuse hyperplasia of lymph nodes mimicking a malignant large cell lymphoma in a patient with active tuberculosis. The possibility of lymphoma coexisting with or superimposed upon the tuberculous infection proved untenable after a long follow-up. The potential of tuberculosis to produce florid lymphoid reactions should be taken into account when interpreting lymph node biopsies in similar clinical situations.
We report a case of sialadenoma papilliferum arising in the adenoids in a 2-year-old child. The tumor demonstrated papillary and adenomatous proliferations, suggestive of minor salivary gland origin. A review of the literature indicated no reported cases of this neoplasm arising in individuals this young. The location of the growth also appears to be unique. Regular follow-up by endoscopy and computed tomographic scan of the nasopharyngeal area have not revealed recurrence of disease one year after resection.
An unusual case of primary adenocarcinoma occurring in the inguinal region of an elderly woman is reported. It appeared to have arisen from the mesothelium of the canal of Nuck. It recurred and involved one inguinal lymph node three years after the diagnosis and seven years after the initial appearance of the mass. The absence of associated peritoneal tumor distinguishes this case from other reported primary malignant neoplasms of the hernial sac.
