The presence of NK-cells in a series of 40 metastatic brain tumours has been studied by means of the monoclonal antibody IOT-10. There appeared IOT-10 NK-cells in all tumours studied, but in most cases these cells represented less than 10% of the tumour infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL). In the present series, the obtained data suggest that the number of NK-cells in brain metastases can be influenced by other factors than the mere quantity of TIL.
A case of papillary pineocytoma is presented. It is necessary to be aware of this unusual histological type of pineocytoma in order to make a differential diagnosis among other types of papillary tumors that arise in the pineal region.
It has been reported elsewhere that liver cell suspensions injected at several locations retain some proper hepatic functions, significantly improve the survival rate of rats with different models of acute fulminant hepatic injury, correct some congenital enzyme deficiency diseases, and improve liver function in cirrhotic animals. Among several locations, the splenic parenchyma has been shown to be the most suitable place for hepatocellular transplantation. Unfortunately, infusion of cells into the splenic pulp is not without risk. In fact, portal hypertension and hepatic embolizations have been described after intrasplenic transplantation of hepatocytes or pancreatic islets or fragments. In addition, pulmonary hepatocyte embolizations have been observed in rats with spontaneous (unpublished observations) or surgically induced portosystemic shunts. In this work, we evaluate the efficacy of temporary occlusion of splenic vessels to prevent hepatic and pulmonary embolizations after liver cell transplantation into the spleen in portal hypertension cirrhotic rats with portosystemic shunts.
Two cases of symptomatic glial cysts of the pineal gland are reported. An origin similar to that proposed for paraventricular glial cysts of the brain is accepted. These unusual lesions could be considered in the differential diagnosis of cystic pineal masses.

A case of uterine leiomyosarcoma with cerebral and pulmonary metastasis is presented. The patient underwent chemotherapy and multiple surgical procedures, including three craneotomies for resecting cerebral metastasis. More than four years of survival with good quality of life were obtained. An aggressive surgical therapy in the rare cases of cerebral metastasis of leiomyosarcoma may be justified.
