[Normal frequency jet ventilation using a nitrous oxide-oxygen mixture (NFJV/SoSG) for microlaryngoscopy and endolaryngeal microsurgery: performance of the Dresden apparatus system, results of experimental purposes and clinical tests and comparison with other jet technics].

Presentation of intentions and devices for normofrequency jet-ventilation using N2O/O2-mixture (NFJV/SoSG). Exclusion of Venturi principle permits application of N2O/O2 to anaesthetic ventilation. The conduction of narcosis is analogous to the usual combination anaesthesia. Further advantages of method: Efficient ventilation and oxygenation (F1O2 = 0.25...0.33); minimal need of space for ventilating system; optimal and variable working conditions for the endoscopist; small economic expense. In case of undisturbed gas backflow are hazardous peak pressures excluded. In comparison with ventilation using Carden tube or HFPPV/pneumatic valve principle the NFJV/SoSG appears at the very least equivalent; in important points (need of space at small tracheal diameters; tracheal stenosis) NFJV/SoSG is superior these methods.

[Studies of voice stress in teachers with functional voice disorders caused by teaching activity].

30 female teachers of ten-years technical schools-15 with functional voice-disturbance an 15 with healthy voice-have been examined while teaching in respect of their strain. Duration of speech, intensity of their teachers voice an background noise, the frequency of heart rate and the arterial blood pressure were measured on the teaching day. Between both research groups no statistically significant differences were shown. There were no correlations between the durations of speech, intensity and vegetative parameters.

[Methodological and experimental studies of jet ventilation--indications and limits of the procedure].

Results of experimental and methodical investigations of so-called "Injector-Ventilation" or jet ventilation verify procedures' safety regarding ventilation and anaesthesia management. Classification of jet ventilation permits delimitation to IPPV and different methods of HFV. Resulting from considerations, especially based on reported insignificancy of "Venturi-Effect" under clinical conditions, authors suggest use of unitary term "Normo-Frequent Jet Ventilation" (NFJV).

[Normofrequent jet ventilation (N20/02 mixture). I. Anesthesiologic principles and experiences using the jet ventilation method].

Report on normo-frequent jet ventilation using N2O/O2 mixture for endolaryngeal and tracheal diagnostic and surgical procedures. Presentation of a system of flexible and rigid sounds. Choice of sounds and driving pressures permits adaptation to different physiological and pathological conditions. Possible methodical complications and their prophylaxis are pointed out. Cardiac arrhythmias occur caused by manipulations only and independent of jet ventilation. Therefore authors recommend continuous ECG monitoring during endolaryngeal manipulations under general anaesthesia too.

Anesthesia, Inhalation↗

[Critical evaluation of jet ventilation from the viewpoint of the endoscopist].

Endoscopists' clinical experiences using jet ventilation (N2O/O2 mixture) for microlaryngoscopy, endolaryngeal microsurgery and tracheobronchoscopy of adults, children and (small) infants are advantageous. Especially authors accentuate: Improved clearness of laryngeal area; overcoming intubation obstacles; extraordinary variability of sounds' arrangement. Authors observed no complications caused by this method. A "symptom of absent sharpness" (microscope) refers to dignity of epithelial alterations at vocal cords. The hygienic molestation of endoscopist by gas backflow is disadvantageous; on the other hand the same backflow essentially excludes a potentially risk of aspiration.

[A proposition of uniform nomenclature of neck dissection (author's transl)].

There are difficulties in the interpretation of operative-surgical interventions (neck dissection), because the possibility to compare the basic disease is restricted and the operative-surgical procedures are described in a very different way. The neck dissection is carried out in different methods and that is why it must be arranged also in the treatment plan in a different way. Three important facts from the lots of information were used to get comparable informations: 1. The method of neck dissection (I-III), 2. the clinical palpation-statement of the lymphatic nodes of the neck (A, B) and 3. the histological statement of the lymphatic nodes of the neck (1-3). There will result a clear and also international comparable nomenclature of neck dissection. The problematic marking "prophylactic neck dissection" loses its purpose.
