Rectourethral and vesical fistulas in patients with high anorectal atresia can be demonstrated by using a pressure Gastrografin enema through the distal colostomy opening. A technique is described where contrast medium is forced by gentle pressure, filling the fistula and the urethra. This picture is of great value during the repair of these anomalies.

The effectiveness of 1alpha-hydroxycholecalciferol [1alpha-OH)D3] in healing uremic bone disease was investigated in 10 uremic patients on maintenance dialysis. Seven patients received 1alpha-(OH)D3, 2 microgram/day, for six months, and three patients served as a control group. Bone density was determined from X-rays of the second phalanx of the second digit. The apparent intestinal calcium absorption improved on treatment with 1alpha-(OH)D3, serum calcium levels and bone density significantly increased, and a significant decrease in serum alkaline phosphatase activity was observed. In one patient, reversal of uremic myopathy occurred after 17 days of 1alpha-(OH)D3 therapy.
Two cases are presented in which an association between unilateral renal agenesis and multiple skeletal abnormalities is found. The pathologic agents responsible for the URA act similarily on other organ systems, including the skeleton. The skeletal abnormality can be diagnosed easily and promptly and may be an indicator for anomalies in other systems as well, especially the urogenital system.
We present a case of rupture of the right diaphragm, due to an automobile accident, discovered after a period of eight years and presenting a clinical picture of pleuropneumonia. The radiologic appearances of traumatic hernia of the diaphragm are more difficult to appreciate on the right side because of the presence of the liver and delayed symptoms. This may be dangerous or sometimes fatal.
One of the major advances in medicine where Radiology is able to be of considerable aid is in the field of Cytogenetics. Parallel with the development of Cytogenetics a group of radiologists described radiological signs associated with chromosomal abnormalities, which became the basis of Radio Cytogenetics. In the last few years radiocytogenetics has provided a list of various signs commonly noted in diseases with chromosomal abnormalities. In spite of the adjuvant and secondary role of radiology, its techniques help in the early diagnosis and genetic counseling. In the final assessment the diagnosis of any chromosomal anomaly needs to depend on a combination of clinical, radiological and genetic features.
