[Oncological cytodiagnosis of the mammary gland].

Oncological mammary cytodiagnosis concerns a secretion, imprint, and punction. It is an integral and unsubstitutable part of the team cooperation in the counselling and prophylactic medical activity. Its pros are made use of in the field of prebioptic selection. Together with clinical and X-ray examination it forms a diagnostic whole which can be used in active prophylaxis as a method of screening. The arbiter of suspect and positive findings is biopsy.

Hyperplasia of Brunner's glands. Radiology, endoscopy and biopsy findings in 11 cases of diffuse, nodular and adenomatous form.

Eleven cases of hyperplasia of Brunner's glands are reported including 10 cases of diffuse and nodular type and one case of Brunnerian polyadenomatosis. Histological changes were identified in aspiration biopsy specimens and termed "biopsy indication of hyperplasia of Brunner's glands". Polypoid pattern seen roentgenologically and endoscopically in the case of the adenomatous type was constant whereas in the case of the diffuse and nodular type it was not constant; it is suggested that this is due to irregular contraction of muscularis mucosae disrupted by protruding Brunner's glands. Most patients had epigastric distress; less than half had duodenitis.

[The use of impedance measurements in the colon].

Biological changes in tissue also affect its biophysical and consequently its electrical properties. By the method here described, high-frequency current is caused to flow through the tissue under examination and the voltage decrease is measured. Measuring equipment of the author's own design has been developed for routine use of the method. The results of repeated measurements in the rectum of 323 subjects show that malignant tumor always cause lesser voltage decreases than do intact or inflamed tissues. The method has already been used during coloscopy in 40 patients. The results were in full agreement with biopsy findings.
