[Melanoma of the female urethra: a very infrequent tumor].

Case report of a melanoma of the urethra in a 75-year old female patient. A few months after diagnosis the patient died of multiple lung metastasis. This is a review of the clinical and diagnostic aspects of the neoplasia highlighting the therapeutical options that albeit debatable seem to be quite clear as to the master lines to follow.

[Ultrasonographic (intra- and extraluminal) pattern of cervico-urethral anastomosis after radical prostatectomy].

Thirteen patients, mean age 61 years (range 54 to 71), diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma underwent radical prostatectomy. To achieve a diagnosis they were all performed blood PSA determination, digital rectal examination, transrectal ultrasound and a prostate ultrasound-guided biopsy by automatic gun puncture. Serum PSA quantification, digital rectal examination and transrectal ultrasound were repeated in the immediate post-operative, and three and six months after surgery. Through the information obtained with endocavitary ultrasound, the lumen of the cervicourethral anastomosis and the perianastomotic tissue was assessed. Transrectal ultrasound plays a relevant role in the follow-up of patients undergoing radical prostatectomy. When a patient with prostate radical surgery shows an elevation of serum PSA and/or abnormal digital rectal examination, an ultrasound-guided biopsy (at the node or perianastomotic area) is indicated.

[Renal neoplasm developing in a pseudocystic cavity].

This paper contributes one case of "cystic" renal carcinoma which has been studied through ultrasound, computerized axial tomography, and thin needle aspirative puncture. Aspects related to pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, and therapeutical approach of the so-called "cystic" carcinoma are reported.

[Retropubic radical prostatectomy. I. Denonvilliers' aponeurosis, prostatic "pseudocapsule" and the external striated urethral sphincter].

The present paper reviews the histological characteristics of the prostatic "pseudocapsule", Denonvilliers' aponeurosis and the external striated urethral sphincter. This morphological study has been conducted on pieces of prostate obtained through necropsies. We believe that the knowledge of the morphological characteristics of these structures as well as their relationships is necessary in order to perform the technique of radical retropubic prostatectomy.

[Wallstent prosthesis, urethral stenosis, and prostatic nodular hyperplasia. Presentation of our experience].

The present paper reviews our experience in the use of Wallstent prosthesis. We contribute a total of seven patients which presented with bulbar urethra stenosis (five cases) and benign prostate hyperplasia (two cases), all of which had undergone periodical dilation prior to the prosthesis implant as well as various endoscopic urethrotomies. Here, we report the indications, exclusion criteria, criteria for evaluation of results, and brief description of the technique or method used for the prosthesis implant. Finally, we report on the procedure's advantages and the need to conduct extensive studies (prospective and randomized) in order to clarify the place such prosthesis may take within the therapeutic field of stenosis of the urethra, and in benign prostate hyperplasia.

[Transcervical resection (TCR) in uterine pathology].

Review of our experience in transcervical resection. We contribute a total of 25 patients aged between 53 and 82 (mean age, 69 years), which presented with repeat metrorrhagia. The metrorrhagias were related to perimenopausal hormonal disorders (14 cases), submucosal uterine myoma (6 cases) and diffuse leiomyosarcoma (5 cases).

[Vesiculography with echo-guided transperineal puncture: a complement to intracavitary transrectal echography].

The present paper is a presentation of our experience in the study of seminal vesicles through transperineal ultrasound-guided puncture vesiculography (T.U.P.V.). Explanation of the technical procedure, performance of an analysis of indications and evaluation of its advantages and disadvantages. We consider that T.U.P.V. is another technique to further study the processes affecting the seminal vesicles.

[Hemangioma of the testis: a problem of clinical diagnosis].

Vascular tumors of the testis are uncommon. A review of the literature showed that only 10 such cases have been reported. Another case of cavernous hemangioma of the testicle is described. Its clinical features, different histological patterns, treatment and its biological significance are discussed.
