[Evaluation of the analgesic activity of a soluble precursor of aspirin in orthopedic surgery].

We carried out a randomized double-blind trial to evaluate the analgesic effect, rapidity of action and tolerance of calcium carbasalate relative to a placebo, given in a single dose of 1 gr. aspirin equivalent immediately after an orthopedic surgical procedure. Autoevaluation by the patient using a visual scale and overall evaluation of analgesic effectiveness by the patient and relatives showed that pain was significantly less with the active therapy whose tolerance was excellent.

[Bilateral traumatic dislocation of the hip. Report on three cases (author's transl)].

Three patients with simultaneous bilateral traumatic dislocation of the hip have been treated, one case developing double intra-articular incarceration after orthopedic reduction. This type of lesion is reputed to be extremely rare, but a review of the published literature demonstrated that more than 100 cases have probably been described.

[Dislocations of the calcaneum, talus and navicular bones. Report of 7 cases (author's transl)].

The authors report 7 cases of sub-taloid dislocation, to which they prefer Allieu's term of talo-navicular-calcaneal dislocation, either internal (the most frequent) or external (rare) depending on the direction of displacement of the foot. After studying their mechanism, they analyse the results, which, contrary to dislocation-fractures of the talus, are usually good, in spite of the frequency of subtalal arthritis.

[Synovial hemangioma of the knee. Report of one case (author's transl)].

Hemangioma of the synovial membrane is encountered in young adults in the form of a palpable articular tumour. The muscle wasting in the quadriceps is out of proportion with the clinical signs and should lead one to suspect the diagnosis. Lengthening of the limb on the side of the lesion by arterio-venous shunt is not rare. Histologically, hemangioma is a vascular tumour and there is the same difficulty in classification as for all vascular tumours. Synovectomy removing the tumour is the operation of choice. Relapse is possible leading to total removal of the synovial membrane. Complementary radiotherapy does not have a clearly defined place in treatment.

[Internal pinning of the humerus by the supra-epitrochlear route. Apropos of 20 cases].

The authors report 20 cases of internal fixation of the humerus by the internal route, they discuss the place of internal fixation among other therapeutic methods and recall the advantages of the supratrochlear internal route, more simple to carry out and always atraumatic. This method is however only used where orthopedic treatment has failed.
