Two-kaon correlations in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 a GeV/c.

Two-particle interferometry of positive kaons is studied in Pb+Pb collisions at mean transverse momenta approximately 0.25 and 0.91 GeV/c. A three-dimensional analysis was applied to the lower p(T) data, while a two-dimensional analysis was used for the higher p(T) data. We find that the source-size parameters are consistent with the m(T) scaling curve observed in pion-correlation measurements in the same collisions, and that the duration time of kaon emission is consistent with zero within the experimental sensitivity.

The application of polyvinyl alcohol in the technology of modern drug form.

The following presentation is a review of literature related to application of nonionic polymer, polyvinyl alcohol, in the technology of modern drug form. The review contains the description of physical-chemical properties of this polymer, such as hydrolysis degree, solubility, swelling capacity. Each characteristic is followed by the description of its application as a therapeutical substance carrier in the pharmacy.

Resorbed polymeric sponge used as a carrier the therapeutic substance. Part 1. Gelatine sponge.

The obtaining of porous, elastic gel matrix, as a carrier of therapeutic substance, with long decomposition time was the aim of the research. The gelatin extracted from pig skin (Fisher Chemicals Schweiz) and 86% glycerol (Chempur) was used in experiments. The studies showed that such biopolymer as gelatine enable to prepare the matrix which can remain in an organism for a time long enough and a porous structure of the sponge allows to increase absorbing capacity of exudate.

Biological Dressings↗

The influence of selected bioadhesive polymers on physical-chemical properties of stomatological dressing.

Dressings made from polyvinyl alcohol (PAV) and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) with the addition of glycerol (GLY) differ in adhesiveness and the time of wash out in water, both characteristics depended on polymer and GLY concentration. The research on the release speed which is applied in topical therapy of chlorhexidine digluconate antiseptic in biopharmaceutical model proved the existence of close to rectilinear relation between the amount of released substance and release time for selected formulations.

Effect of technological factors on concentration of halogen derivative pesticides in some vegetable drugs.

The effects of technological factors on degree of passing of halogen derivative pesticides (p,p'-DDT and its metabolites p,p'-DDD and p,p'-DDE, as well as HCH, DMDT, aldrin and dieldrin) from vegetable raw materials into infusions, decoctions, tinctures and dry extracts have been evaluated. It has been found that the quantity of isolated compounds depends mainly on type and concentration of solvent, temperature, duration of heating, type of raw material and its chemical composition. The highest extractions of these compounds have been observed with alcohol extracts, whereas in case of aqueous extracts the amounts extracted were much lower. In the case of tinctures the extraction amounted to approx. 90%, for dry extracts approx. 60%, for infusions approx. 25% and for decoctions only approx. 14%.

Studies on concentration of halogen derivatives in herbal products from various regions of Poland.

The studies covered evaluation of levels of halogen derivative pesticides (p,p'-DDT and its metabolites p,p'-DDD and p,p'-DDE, as well as HCH, DMDT, aldrin and dieldrin) in herbal raw materials picked up in various regions of Poland in 1983. Qualitative analyses have been carried out with the TLC method whereas for quantitative analyses the GLC method has been applied. It has been found that the most frequently occurring are p,p'-DDT and its metabolites. The highest concentrations of these compounds have been observed in herbs from Lower Silesia and from the Bydgoszcz regions. Also in the region of Białystok concentrations of these compounds are generally higher than in other parts of Poland. Other pesticides have been found in a lesser number of herbal raw materials and in considerably lower concentrations.

Studies on contamination of vegetable drugs with halogen derivative pesticides. Part 2: Concentrations of halogen derivative pesticides in vegetable blends and herbal granulated products produced in Poland in 1980-1984.

Changes in concentration levels of halogen derivative pesticides (p,p'-DDT and its metabolites p,p'-DD and p,p'-DDE, as well as HCH, DMDT, aldrin, dieldrin) in vegetable blends and granulated products produced in Poland were studied in the period 1980-1984. By means of GLC and TLC methods it has been found, that as in the case of raw materials, contamination levels of these materials increased from 1980 up to the maximum values for vegetable blends in 1982 and in granulated products in 1983. Generally, concentration levels in vegetable blends and in raw material were similar over the same periods of time, whereas concentrations in granulated products were considerable lower.

Studies on contamination of vegetable drugs with halogen derivative pesticides. Part 1: Changes of concentrations of halogen derivatives in herbal raw materials within the period of 1980-1984.

Levels of concentration of halogen derivatives (p,p'-DDT with metabolites p,p'-DDD and p,p'-DDE, HCH, DMDT, aldrin, dieldrin) and their changes in herbal raw materials commercially manufactured in Poland within the period of 1980-1984 have been analyzed (qualitative analyses by TLC, quantitation by GLC). Higher levels of these compounds in 1982 as compared with the periods of 1980-1981 and 1983-1984 has been noticed.
