[Single stab wounds causing multiple trauma].

The authors presented their two-year experience regarding diagnosis and treatment of 6 patients with single stab wounds causing polytrauma. In 4 cases the thoracoabdominal penetrating wounds were diagnosed. Emergency x-ray of the chest and ultrasonographic examination of abdomen were diagnostic in 1 case (17%). Five patients (83%) were operated in first three hours after trauma with good results. In 1 case (17%) delayed operation was complicated by left pyothorax. The results of this study indicated that patients with stab wounds causing polytrauma should be operated urgently in order to avoid complications and improve prognosis.

[Examination the extent of flap rotation from the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle].

The authors evaluated various methods of range lengthening of muscular and cutaneous--muscular flaps from the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle on 18 amputated lower extremities and section specimens. It has been found that lengthening of flaps size by Cheng and transformation of the muscular and cutaneous--muscular flap into the island flap produced marked lengthening of flap arch. The authors believe that incisions of the perimysium can not be recommended as a method of lengthening of flaps range.

[Free cutaneous-muscle flap from the latissimus dorsi muscle].

Free cutaneous--muscular flap from the latissimus dorsi muscle was used to cover extensive posttraumatic skin defect of the distal tibia in a patient with lesion of the anterior tibial artery. The technique of flap transfer and vascular anastomosis has been presented. Full healing was achieved.

[Island flap from the soleus muscle based on retrograde circulation].

Creation of tissue flaps on the basis of retrograde circulation enables mobilization of the tissues which have acquired the possibility of a wide range of peripheral rotation. The course and result of the treatment of extensive ulceration within the region of the tuber calcanei by such a soleus muscle flap have been presented. A good late result was obtained.
