[18-year survival in a case of repeated excision of malignant conjunctival melanoma].

The case of 18 years survival with repeatedly excised conjunctival malignant melanoma is described. The survival period is extraordinary long in that case. However, the case is illustrative for some general characteristics of conjunctival melanoma, particularly in a comparison with cutaneous melanomas. The importance of regular following of patients with primary acquired melanosis is stressed in conclusion.

[Lymphocytic infiltration in uveal melanoma].

After our observation of lymphocytic infiltration in uveal melanomas we present theoretical review to this interesting topic. Due to relatively low incidence of this feature we haven't got sufficiently large collection of cases for presentation of our statistically significant conclusions.

[Prognostically important features of uveal melanoma in histopathologic examinations].

The prognostic value of various morphological features of the uveal melanoma (i.e. histological type, maximal distance and shape of the tumour, the extension of the tumour, it's site in various parts of the uvea and the mitotic activity and pleomorphism within the tumour) is described. The description and evaluation is based mainly on the histopathologic examination of enucleated globe. The possibilities of the clinical examination or using of specialized methods are mentioned.

Immunodiagnosis of candida-infections. I. Sensitivity of the antigens.

Attempts were made to prepare a sensitive antigen from C. albicans suitable for detecting humoral antibodies and hypersensitivity in deep-seated candidiasis, in patients at risk of invasive candidiasis and in allergic states caused by Candida. 5343 persons suffering from systemic, bronchial, vaginal candidiasis, bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, polyarthritis nodosa, ulcus cruris, malignancy, rhinitis pollinosa, vasomotorica, and non infected miners, farmers and blood donors were investigated on the presence of antibodies and hypersensitivity against 8 different antigen preparations. The extracellular protein and mannan- protein isolated from the cultivation medium of C. albicans proved the most sensitive for specific anticandida antibodies. The mannan, especially the mannan isolated from the cell surface of C. albicans determined best for the allergy. Comparison made of commerical Candidine showed similar activity. The whole cell C. albicans antigens as well as the mixed Candida antigen reacted much weakly. Comparison made of autoantigen, C. albicans and mixed C. albicans antigen proved the highest sensitivity of the autoantigen.

[Professional allergic diseases in CSSR (author's transl)].

The authors have watched more than 300 workers of various fodder manufactures in allergological, immunological and clinical way. The findings have been evaluated to the part of the exposition, hygiene and professional allergens. The symptoms of the latent sensitisation so as clinical symptoms after longer time of employment give evidence about a great importance and higher biological activity of the most fodders of modern farming and about new possibilities of the professional allergisation.

Intraocular astrocytoma without phacomatosis.

PURPOSE: Astrocytic tumors occur in the retina or in the optic disc usually as a part of tuberous sclerosis complex or other phacomatosis and their isolated occurrence is rare. The authors present two adult patients in whom the diagnosis of intraocular astrocytoma was established but no signs of phacomatosis were revealed.

An unusual case of IgE myeloma.

A further case of IgE myeloma in a 65 year old woman was described. An unusual picture was found in the urine where two IgE fragments, namely an incomplete Fc fragment and an IgE specific Fab fragment were excreted. The clinical picture supports the suggestion that IgE myelomas are very heterogenous.
