[Cervical pulmonary hernia].

Pulmonary hernia is in general a rare affection--in particular in the cervical region. Symptoms are as a rule slight and are encountered only in exceptional cases. The diagnosis is based on physical examination and imaging techniques. The authors submit a case-history of a cervical pulmonary hernia in a young woman. It was noteworthy because of marked complaints of the patient which involved professional damage. Therefore it had to be treated by surgery which was successful.

[A case of successful operation of left atrial myxoma causing cerebral embolism].

The authors describe the case report of a young woman in whom a left atrial myxoma causing cerebral embolism was diagnosed by echocardiography. On the ninth day after the development of neurologic symptoms the tumor was excised by an emergency intervention. After the operation the condition of the patient improved considerably. In connection with the case the authors underline the role of echocardiography in the detection of sources of embolism.

Differential X-ray diagnosis of renal dystopias and ectopias in children.

A survey was made of the types of renal allotopia in children based on 5250 urographic examinations. The X-ray anatomy of allotopic kidney and the clinical symptoms of the conditions were discussed. The diagnostic value of individual X-ray techniques was critically appraised and the merits of renal angiography were stressed in terms of both diagnostics and the selection of appropriate surgical procedure. The inadequate terminology of allotopically displaced kidney was discussed.
