[Conventional roentgen functional diagnosis--videodensitometry. 1. Densitometric and topometric measurements of roentgen video images: technique and method of measuring].

It is possible to measure movements in the human body with the help of X-ray television systems. A great number of different techniques has been published in the scientific literature. They all based on only two principles with qualitative differences in signal acquisition. The densitometric and topometric measurements are assessed and compared. Neither the densitometric nor the topometric principle seems to be superior. To support the experimental work the videoanalyser VIANA MP was developed on the Ilmenau Institute of Technology.

[Ultrasonographic diagnosis in disturbances of early pregnancy (author's transl)].

Ultrasonography using high-magnification, modern ultrasonographs enables information on intactness of pregnancy in early disturbed pregnancy. The ultrasound findings can be correlated with the clinical diagnoses, such as incomplete abortion. A final diagnosis, such as missed abortion, can frequently only be made after exact ultrasonographic investigation. The failure rate depends on the equipment and the experience of the investigator. Exact knowledge of the gestational age clearly influences the accuracy of an ultrasonographic diagnosis in early pregnancy. A gestational age earlier than the calculated one may be mistaken for a pregnancy that is no longer intact.

Concentration of immunoglobulins in the tonsils.

The concentration of various immunoglobulins in the faucial tonsil was determined and expressed as a portion of the total protein centration of IgA rises with age while that of IgM falls. IgE was found to be relatively high and the highest levels of all immunoglobulins examined were noted in hypertrophied tonsils. They were lowest in the atrophic tonsils of children and in adult tonsils. The results are discussed in their relevance to the overall immunological function of the faucial tonsil.

Adult

The accumulation of immunoglobulins in the human tonsil.

The concentration of 5 types of immunoglobulins in both serum and the faucial tonsil was determined. The level for all types was significantly higher in the tonsil. IgG was detected as the main immunoglobulin in the tonsil, while the concentration of the other types was in about the same range. With the shortening of the biological half-live the accumulation index increases. The results give evidence for the antibody formation in the tonsil.

Humans

[Concentration of RNA, DNA and protein in the human tonsil as a parameter for the discrimination of their function (author's transl)].

We have studied at 200 tonsils the tissue concentration and the organ content of RNA, DNA and protein. The results are used for the objective discrimination of different clinical states. It could be shown that the time of the maximal physiological activity reaches to the age of 20 years. Our results may be used as directions for the indication of the tonsilectomy.

Abscess

[The protein- and nucleic acid biosynthese in isolated human tonsilar cells and his dependence of age (author's transl)].

The aim of our investigations was to discriminate unspecific age-depending function of the tonsil. In an in-vitro system of tonsillar lymphocytes we could show, that there are differences in the DNA-, RNA- and Proteinbiosynthese between children and adults. The children organ is more active. It could be shown that the observed differences are only age depending and not influenced by the clinical state of the organ.

Simultaneous application of electronystagmography (ENG) and photoelectronystagmography (PENG) in the case of thermal labyrinth examination.

At examination of normal persons, the ENG registration method was compared with that of PENG. Special examinations were executed with regard to the behaviour of the beat rates during the culmination phase of thermal labyrinth reactions by using each of both registering methods. By synchronous recording of PENG and ENG, it was possible to settle the discrepancy of the greater number of beats in ENG compared with those of PENG, while the examinations were executed at different times. The PENG-method does not exclude an optical fixation due to the necessary interior illumination, and this results in a retarding of the reaction and smaller beat rates. This fact should be considered when comparing the results of ENG and PENG.
