In 1981 we observed two cases of leprosy in Salzburg. The two Vietnamese refugees already had advanced borderline disease. Treatment with dapsone resulted in clearing of the skin in both cases. One of the patients developed a leprosy reaction during treatment.

Since the extracts of allergens are manufactured, accidents in hyposensitization have got a rarity. The following accidents can happen: exceeding local reaction, exacerbation of allergic symptoms, systemic reaction up to anaphylactic shock. There are 5 causes for accidents: incorrect technique of injection, overdose of allergen, wrong intervals of treatment, endogenous factors and exposition ot allergen.
A 45 year old woman with Pringle's disease (adenoma sebaceum), gingival and digital fibromas is reported, who had also characteristical skeletal lesions. Three of five children have cutaneous lesions, one of them also skeletal lesions.
Results from skin tests and radioallergosorbent test (penicilloyl G and penicilloyl V) were compared in 76 patients with suspected penicillin hypersensitivity and in 22 control subjects without such clinical symptoms. The test results were also correlated to the clinical history of adverse reactions and to the levels of total serum IgE. The overall agreement between skin test and RAST results was 89% in the patient group. Two of the control subjects without symptoms were professionally employed with penicillin production; one of them had circulating IgE-antibodies and the other exhibited positive skin tests. The skin tests were more frequently positive than the RAST test. By means of skin titration some of the skin tests were demonstrated to be false positive. The discrepancy can also be explained by the fact that skin reactions also occur in other situations than IgE-mediated adverse reactions. Circulating IgE-antibodies were not found in any of 23 cases where adverse reactions appeared later than 24 h after the latest penicillin administration. It is concluded that the measurement of circulating IgE-antibodies is a valuable aid in the diagnosis of penicillin allergy.

Rhabdomyosarcomas are malignant tumors, and especially occur in childhood. In adults they are extremely rare. A pleomorphe rhabdomyosarcoma of the skin, localized on the nose of an 85-year old female patient, is reported. After surgical removal the defect was reconstructed with a full skin graft. The four histologic types of rhabdomyosarcoma (pleomorphic, alveolair, embryonal, botryoid) are discussed.
The wide use of penicillin and of other treponemacide antibiotics levels often to the treatment of patients with early-syphilis without knowing it. So the typical appearance of syphilis may be masked and the development of the classic serologic changes may be disturbed. From 1963 to 1974 569 cases of early-syphilis were treated as inpatients of the University clinic of Innsbruck, Department of Dermatology, 15% had proved and 20% had probable antibiotic therapy before syphilis was diagnosed. The influence on the course of disease due to treatment before noting the diagnosis is discussed by the means of own observations and reports in the literature. An attempt is made to explain the striking increase of symptomless early-syphilis.

A well-defined, characteristic disease has been observed in babies at the Department of Dermatology, Innsbruck University, over the past 7 years. On account of the localisation and probable pathogenesis of the condition the term "Windelsoor" (napkin thrush) has been coined by us for it. The clinical picture, the mycological and histological findings, the therapeutic results and the follow up are reported and the aetiology and pathogenesis of this disease discussed.
During the last 7 years a well defined, characteristic disease has been observed in babies of the department of dermatology of the university clinic of Innsbruck. Because of the localisation and probable pathogenesis we have coined the term "Windelsoor" (diaper thrush) for it. Clinical picture, mycological and histological findings, therapeutical experience with therapy and follow-up results are reported. With reference to the anglo-american literature on this subject the pathogenesis of this disease is discussed.
