One-piece root-form implants: a return to simplicity.

Immediately loaded 1-piece dental implants were a standard treatment modality more than 30 years ago and, on occasion, resulted in excellent clinical successes. However, this technology also became associated with significant failure rates and fell out of favor. Since then, understanding of the site requirements and placement procedures necessary to ensure primary stability have advanced considerably. Implant designs and surface treatments also have evolved. In light of this greater understanding, a 1-piece root-form implant system has been developed. This article describes 4 clinical cases in which use of the new system was employed. In each case, the results included excellent stability, esthetics, and patient satisfaction.

8-year onlay bone graft and ridge augmentation with PepGen P-15: a clinical and radiographic case study.

The long-term efficacy of PepGen P-15, a tissue-engineered particulate bone replacement graft, has been established for the treatment of periodontal osseous defects. In this case study, the long-term benefits of PepGen P-15 as a bone replacement graft for onlay grafting and ridge augmentation is evaluated using clinical and radiographic assessments. The radiographic and clinical evaluations continued for a period of over 8 years to confirm the stability of the onlay/ridge augmentation site grafted with PepGen P-15 particulate.

Clinical, radiographic, histologic, and histomorphometric comparison of PepGen P-15 particulate and PepGen P-15 flow in extraction sockets: a same-mouth case study.

PURPOSE: Although the efficacy of PepGen P-15 particulate has been conclusively demonstrated in two multicenter clinical studies, the effect of a new hydrogel formulation containing PepGen P-15 on bone repair has not been previously demonstrated. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PepGen P-15 Flow contains PepGen P-15 particulate in a biocompatible hydrogel, which provides spacing between the particles. In this case study, bone repair of both PepGen P-15 particles and PepGen P-15 Flow was compared to natural bone in same-mouth extraction sockets. RESULTS: The radiographic, histologic, and histomorphometric evaluations showed enhanced bone formation and faster particle resorption with PepGen P-15 Flow compared to the PepGen P-15 particulate. CONCLUSION: The accelerated bone formation by PepGen P-15 Flow may provide faster implant placement.
