[Quantitative determination of imidacloprid by infrared absorption spectrometry].

The content of imidacloprid in pesticide is usually measured by high-performance liquid chromatography, which is precise but time-consuming. In the present work the content of imidacloprid in pesticide was measured by infrared spectroscopy with pressing potassium bromide troche (KBr). A comparison of infrared spectra between analytic imidacloprid and commercial pesticide showed that the absorption peak of imidacloprid at 939.2 cm(-1) is independent and can be used as the characteristic absorption peak for quantitative determination. The area from 947 to 925.8 cm(-1) for the infrared spectra of imidacloprid and its content meet the linear equation: Area = l.3665 x 10(-1) + 2.37 x 10(-2) x c, r = 0.99953. Finally, the authors could draw a conclusion that the method of NIR, instead of routine lab analysis, is feasible for the determination of imidacloprid in pesticide.

[Open reduction and internal fixation of displaced intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus].

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the results of intra-articular calcaneal fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation. METHODS: Thirty-five displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures in 34 patients were treated with open reduction and internal fixation from August 2001 to April 2003. Fracture classification was based on Sanders classification. Extended lateral approach, and fixed the fractures with AO titanium plate for calcaneus were performed. Bone graft was used in selected patients. Thirty-five fractures in thirty-four patients were evaluated using radiographic examinations and ankle hindfoot clinical rating system of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). Average follow-up was 18.3 months (range from 12 to 32 months). RESULTS: There were 30 type II fractures and 5 type III fractures. Average Böhler's angle was 5.6 degrees preoperatively and 28.2 degrees finally. Roentgenographic evaluation of calcaneal body dimensions showed restoration of heel height (97.7%) to virtually normal. Anatomic or near anatomic reductions were obtained in 80% of the cases. The average score was 88.1 for type II fractures, and 78.8 for type III fractures. Excellent or good clinical results occurred in 82.8% type II fractures, and 60.0% type III fractures. The overall excellent or good rate was 79.4%. CONCLUSION: From the results, open reduction and internal fixation for Sanders type II and type III fractures are recommended.

[Chemical constituents of Cyanotis arachnoidea].

AIM: To investigate the chemical constituents of Cyanotis arachnoidea. METHODS: By using chromatographic methods for separation and combination with spectral analysis, their chemical structures were determined. RESULTS: Six compounds were identified as ajugasterone C-20, 22-acetonide (1), 20-hydroxyecdysone-20, 22-acetonide (2), 22-oxo-ajugasterone C (3), 22-oxo-20-hydroxyecdysone (4), beta-sitosterol (5), daucosterol (6). CONCLUSION: Compound 3 is a new compound, 4 was a new natural compound.

Stilbenes from Sphaerophysa salsula.

A new stilbene, (trans)-4-[2-(3, 5-dimethoxyphenyl) ethenyl]-1,2-benzenediol (1), was isolated from the whole herbs of Sphaerophysa salsula, together with (trans)-4-[2-(3, 5-dimethoxy phenyl) ethenyl]-2-methoxyphenol (2) and daucosterol. The structure of 1 was determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidences.

[A new monoterpene glycoside from Paeonia lactiflora Pall].

AIM: To study the chemical constituents of Paeonia lactiflora. METHODS: The constituents of P. lactiflora were separated by using various kinds of modern chromatography and was identified its structure on the basis of spectral analysis. RESULTS: A monoterpene glucoside named albiflorin R1 was isolated from the roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. In the structure of albiflorin R1, the aglycone connected with a glucose at its 2-OH while the hemiacetal hydroxyl in glucose moiety was free. CONCLUSION: Albiflorin R1 is a new monoterpene glycoside.
