[The unconscious and nothing else? Comment on Reimut Reiche "From inside to outside?"].

The author criticizes Reimut Reiche's hypostatization of an (albeit intermittent) dualism between inside and outside worlds. She recalls the dialectics of individual and society, or more precisely individuation and socialisation, and demonstrates that the field of analytic social psychology-ignored by Reiche -could represent a way out of the theoretical blind alleys that he enlarges upon.

["New" authoritarianism and right extremism. A time-related diagnostic conjecture].

On the basis of two brief case studies the author elucidates the difference between "classical" authoritarianism as described by Adorno et al and the "new" authoritarianism which she posits as indicating what might be termed a negatively extended stage of sociation. Whereas the classical authoritarian takes an external object as the locus for the formation of moral judgments and activates aggressive impulses via projections onto "foreigners" or "aliens", the communicative dimension of social action, a dimension profoundly characterised by narcissism and centring no longer around the super-ego but the unconscious self with a specific aggression potential of its own. In Brede's view extreme right-wing phraseology and violence may be a reaction to persons or groups whose common factor is the "new" authoritarianist syndrome.

[The professional status of analytic and adolescent psychotherapists in the "FOGS Study].

Analytic psychotherapists for children and young people are the only group of psychoanalytic methods among "laypersons" has become reality. These therapists are integrated into the overall German health care system. The author discusses the scope of their activities as reflected by the "FOGS Study", underlining the medico-centric profile displayed by this professional group and the attendant duality characteristic of it. On the one hand, these therapists are incorporated organisationally into the professional associations of the psychoanalysts, but in their activities and trainee work they are largely autonomous. It is to be hoped that the planned "Psychotherapist Law" will provide this group with a status in which their legal standing and their specific therapeutic identity will be more closely matched.

[German unification influenced by an unfinished psychosocial history].

The critical form of social psychology presented here is concerned with the modalities and results of German reunification. It proceeds from Freud's insistence on the functional autonomy of psychic dispositions and unconscious forms of identification vis-à-vis the political and economic spheres. With reference to earlier historical experience of the Germans as an "economic nation" the authors suspect that German reunification with the avowed "economistic" priority of establishing the same life conditions in East and West is once again suppressing those problems that are bound up with the post-fascist syndrome handed down from one generation to the next. With a view to casting light on the reunification process and the collective psychic potentials it has released, the authors supplement Freud's mass-psychology approach with Julia Kristeva's outline of a social psychology that hinges on the relationship between cosmopolitanism and the national idea.
