[The glucagonoma syndrome--a not-so-well-known cutaneous paraneoplastic condition. Case report].
Report on a 50-year-old patient suffering from glucagonoma-syndrome caused by a metastatic pancreatic islet cell carcinoma which produced several peptide hormones. There was no chance of operative resection of the tumor because of liver metastases at the time of diagnosis. The patient was treated with DTIC, systemic corticosteroids and photochemotherapy. During this treatment the skin lesions disappeared completely.

Treatment of psoriasis with somatostatin.
In 22 of 26 patients suffering from psoriasis the drip infusion therapy with Somatostatin, an inhibitor of the human growth hormone (HGH), leads to complete or partial remission of skin lesions. Fast reduction of joint pains in arthropathic psoriasis could be observed in four of four patients. The repeated measurement of HGH blood level showed a decrease of HGH in five cases following the Somatostatin therapy combined with the clinical remission.

[Coincidence of melanoma growth and immune status? Virus antigens as a parameter (author's transl)].
Antibody titer determinations against Epstein-Barr virus were carried out after primary operation in 51 patients with malignant melanoma in an observation period of 18 months. A coincidence of tumor growth and reduced immune defense was established. The antibody titer thus serves as a parameter for assessment of immune behavior.

[Stenoses of the cerebral arteries in pseudoxanthoma elasticum (author's transl)].
The Grönblad-Strandberg-Syndrome (Pseudoxanthoma elasticum) is a systemic disease of the elastic tissue, typical symptoms being lesion of skin and ocular fundi. The frequently appearing vascular changes, particularly of occlusive nature, are important for the patient's prognosis. Several clinical observations had led different authors to assume cerebrovascular involvement. Our neuroradiological findings support this opinion: In this report on a 45-year-old patient with acute hemisyndrome, we demonstrated, for the first time using computerized tomography, ischemic infarcts of both cerebral hemispheres. Cerebral angiography showed bilateral stenoses of the internal carotid arteries with further irregularities of the lumen of the intracranial arteries.

Treatment of psoriasis with bromocriptin.
Sixty patients suffering from psoriasis of all clinical forms have been treated with an increased dosage of Bromocriptin. The age of the patients ranged from 20 to 72 years. Patients with contraindications for Bromocriptin were excluded from the test. In 80% a remission or reduction of psoriasis lesions was noticed. Side effects in the form of nausea, dizziness and vomiting occurred in 15%, but decreased in the course of Bromocriptin therapy.

[Chromosome studies in newborn infants following exchange transfusion using countersexual blood].
The chromosomes of 6 (5 females, 1 male) newborns have been examined before and after exchange transfusion. The highest percentage of donor lymphocytes has been found immediately after the exchange transfusion (9%, range 5 to 16%). The percentage of donor lymphocytes had decreased to 4% after 24 hours and to 1% after 3 weeks. There was no hint of a clastogenic effect of phototherapy and exchange transfusion.
