[Dental and gnathological aspects of facial neuralgia (author's transl)].
Disturbances of dental occlusion may lead to hyperactivity of the regional musculature, accompanied by a displacement of the lower jaw. The muscle and joint pains which then occur are the principal causes of the complex picture of facial neuralgia from the gnathological point of view, but the emotional factor must not be overlooked. The dental treatment of the pain syndrome demands extremely high expenditure in time and technical equipment. It usually consists of repositioning the displaced mandible with subsequent stabilization by dental technical measures. It is, moreover, important to keep parafunctional activity of the masseter muscles as low as possible or to suppress it altogether by purposeful arrangement of the occlusal surface complex.

[The condymeter].
The condymeter serves for the technical measurement of condylar displacement where the usual condylar position (habitual intercuspidation) is used as a relative constant. Technical fitting and calibration of the machine with the commercially available SAM-Articulator System ensures its time-saving use in diagnosis and and therapy of diseases of the temporo-mandibular joint and the neuromuscular system.

The role of retro-disclusion in the treatment of the TMJ-patient.
A clinical procedure is described for treatment of patients with condylar malposition. The method of construction of the occlusal splint used is outlined and its mode of action discussed.

[Position of condyles in habitual and therapeutic occlusion].
One of the possible therapies of funcitonal disturbances in the masticatory system is finding a new intercondylar axis. The condyles perform a movement whose direction and length can be measured. All measuring results obtained from 51 patients are reported and in special cases the different methods of registration are compared. It was shown that in some cases the malposition of the condyles could not be eliminated.
