[A trial of immunological correction in patients with frequently recurring chronic inflammatory gynecological diseases].

Various immunomodulating drugs: levamizol in suppression of CMI and phagocytosis, gamma A in deficit of antibody synthesis and vitamins A, E, C, in patients with suppression of all immunological parameters, were added to the complex treatment of 67 patients with frequently relapsing inflammatory gynecological diseases and data for suppression of various components of the immune response. Inclusion of immunomodulators to the complex therapy induces a definite antirelapsing effect. Levamizol was of the highest clinical efficiency, presenting a definite antirelapsing effect of 66.67% of the patients, treated and observed for a period of a year.

[Evaluation of immunostimulating agents used in pulmonologic practice].

Several immunostimulating drugs--levamisole (decaris), Gamma-A, dipyridamole (Antistenocardin), Respivax--were included in the treatment of 161 patients with frequently recurring chronic nonspecific lung diseases and data for suppression of various components of the immune system. Levamisole and Respivax show marked antirelapse efficacy in chronic lung diseases. Gamma-A has a certain immunosubstituent action, dipyridamole exerts a moderate antirelapse action.

[Immune depression--a possible cause of the unfavorable course of pneumonia in chronic alcoholics].

In 27 patients, suffering with chronic alcoholism and hospitalized for pulmonary diseases in the Clinic of Pulmonology and Phthisiology, the following immunological characteristics were checked up: the functional activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and in 12 patients also that of alveolar macrophages were evaluated on the basis of the study of the phagocytic index and the phagocytic number, myeloperoxidase and the nitro blue tetrazolium test; the levels of serum IgG, IgA and IgM, the titer of the complement, E-rosette-forming cells (active and total) were also evaluated; the deficiency of cell-mediated immune response was determined by means of intradermal tests with the use of P.P.D., phytohemagglutinin, candidin, trichophytin. In all these investigations the depression of the functional activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and alveolar macrophages, dysimmunoglobulinemia, the increased level of circulating immune complexes and the suppression of cell-mediated immunity characteristics were revealed in the patients. Frequent infections and the severe course of bacterial and viral infections observed in such patients can be probably attributed to deficient cell-mediated immune response and to disturbances in phagocytosis.

[Immunological changes in Schönlein-Henoch patients].

The level of serum IgI, A, M, complement titre and circulation immune complexes were studied under clinical conditions of 17 patients with Schönlein-Henoch, active phase. The following changes were established as compared with the control, healthy subjects: four-times increased values of the circulating immune complexes, elevated IgA serum level, and IgG--to a lesser degree and reduced titre of the complement. Prognosis is more unfavourable in patients with extremely high values of the circulating immune complexes and complement consumption.

[Clinical effectiveness of specific hyposensitisization in treating bronchial asthma depending on the time of its application].

During the period 1974-1979, an allergologic study was carried out on 7228 patients from six districts of North-East Bulgaria. Specific hyposensibilization was conducted to 3312 patients, the effect having been followed up in 2004 of them. Young patients with infectious-allergic forms predominated, with a moderately severe course and duration from 2 to 5 years. The specific hyposensibilization was conducted according to the officially adopted method, the effectiveness determined via clinical criteria. The specific hyposensibilization effect develops slowly, the percentage of favourable effect increasing with long-term treatment -- good results were attained after one year treatment in 10.97 per cent, with a two-year treatment -- in 42.56 per cent, with three-years -- 54.47 per cent, with four years -- 61.27 per cent.

[Some modern views of the role of the eosinophils in allergic reactions and bronchial asthma and a new method of detecting eosinophils in the bronchial secretion].

A review of certain contemporary opinions of eosinophil function in allergic reactions and bronchial asthma is presented in this report. Phagocytosis and processing of the complexes antigenantibody, histamine inhibition and a histamine elimination elimination by a specific inhibitor, isolated from eosinophilis (EDI), stimulation of prostaglandines E release, which also inhibit histamine and have a bronchial dilataion effect. The new method is recommended for eosinophil detection in sputa based on the fluorescent principle as faster and more efficient.
