Institutions have adopted various organizational models to incorporate the role of acute care nurse practitioners (ACNP). This article provides a review of various professional practice models for ACNPs, their scope of practice, institutional credentialing, and typical funding mechanisms for these practitioners working in hospital-based acute care settings.
