[Staphylococcal adherence to rabbit epithelial cells].

The adherence of Staphylococcus aureus strains to rabbit epithelial cells has been studied. The strains have been shown to possess similar adhesiveness with respect to the epithelium of the mouth cavity of rabbits. The investigation, carried out with the use of one staphylococcal strain taken as a model, has revealed that the cells of this strain adhere to different areas of the epithelium in the mouth cavity in varying amounts, the amount of adhering bacteria depending on the age of rabbits. The data presented in this work suggest that in staphylococci adhering to rabbit epithelial cells the adhesive function is performed by thermostable and trypsin-resistant staphylococcal cell-wall surface structures of nonprotein nature.

[An analysis of the molecular forms of the lipopolysaccharide from Pseudomonas syringae pv. atrofaciens IMV K-1025].

Water extract and salt-EDTA extract of Pseudomonas syringae, pv. atrofaciens cells were fractionated by ultracentrifugation with following salting out of ultracentrifugal supernatant by ammonium sulphate at 55% saturation (pH 4.5). The composition and distribution of LPS molecular forms were studied in the obtained fractions by means of electrophoresis in 10% polyacrylamide gel with 1% sodium dodecylsulphate when staining gels by silver nitrate and cumassi. It is shown that ultracentrifugal supernatant and a sediment as well as sulphate sediment contain S-LPS and R-LPS. SR-LPS is not differentiated. Sulphate supernatant does not contain the determinable amount of S-LPS but it is enriched by the proteins with molecular weights of 65-15 kDalton. S-LPS is localized in the gel area which corresponds to mobilities of polypeptides with molecular weights 130-45 KDalton and the number of monomeric links in O-specific chains of its molecules reaches 25-30. R-LPS migrates under electrophoresis in gel to the mobility zone of polypeptides with molecular weights 14.5-16 kDalton.

[Gram-negative bacteria contaminating the process of producing lysine].

The authors have isolated Gram-negative bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family from the culture liquid of industrial fermenters with low yield of lysine. Most of them possessed the characters typical of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, the rest were identified as the representatives of genera Proteus, Providencia, Enterobacter, Hafnia. Strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, E.coli, Proteus rettgeri manifested lysine-decarboxylase activity. The capacity of some strains to destruct lysine synthesized by the target culture in the process of fermentation with formation of cadaverin was experimentally proved and confirmed under production conditions. Technological water is the source of distribution of gram-negative bacteria (first of all Klebsiella) in lysine production.

[Heterogeneity of peptidoglycans of bacterial origin].

Heterogeneity of peptidoglycans of Staphylococcus aureus of strains 3272 and Wood-46, Brevibacterium flavum, Micrococcus lysodeikticus has been studied by the method of electrophoresis in the system polyacrylamide gel--sodium dodecylsulfate. It is shown that peptidoglycans of different strains of S. aureus and other species of gram-positive bacteria treated with ultrasound are a complex of fractions with 3 basic high-molecular components with M 100, 92 and 84 kDa, while two main fractions with Mm 92 and 84 kDa are identified in peptidoglycans drugs treated with ultrasound.

[The serological properties of a lysine producer developing in a batch culture].

Immune sera specific to bacterial cells at various development stages of periodic culture have been obtained with the purpose to study serological properties of lysin producer. Using the method of immunoenzyme analysis ELISA it is shown that there is certain dependence between the producer properties and the culture age. Different strains-producers used in production to-day are serologically close between each other. When using 49 strains-contaminants of lysin production (representatives of 10 genera) the absence of serological affinity between the producer and foreign microflora has been demonstrated. Preliminary data prove the prevalence of cells producers of thermostable antigens on the cell surface.

[The serological properties of saprophytic corynebacteria studied by immunoenzyme analysis].

The degree of serological similarity of saprophytic corynebacteria have been studied using immunoassay ELISA analysis, that is seven collection strains, belonging to Corynebacterium glutamicum (3 strains), C. ammoniagenes (1 strain), C. vitarumen (1 strain), C. variabilis (2 strains) and three industrial strains-lysine producers. Intact and heated bacteria cells have been used as antigens. It has been shown that industrial strain C. glutamicum 22L and collection strains C. glutamicum IMV AC-715, IMV AC-714, IMV AC-733 have the highest degree of serological relationship. C. vitarumen IMV AC-718, C variabilis IMV AC-716 as well as Corynebacterium sp. E531 and VNIIgenetics 90 are close to them according to their serological properties. C. ammoniagenes IMV AC-732 and C. variabilis IMV AC-717 strains have the lowest degree of similarity with other saprophytic corynebacteria which have been studied.
