NaviMedix's NaviNet Web solution delivering measurable administrative simplification to neighborhood health plan.

Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP), a Boston-based not-for-profit health maintenance organization (HMO), is deploying NaviMedix's NaviNet to replace the tangle of phone calls, faxes, and paper forms with a single real-time Web solution that delivers online referral notification, eligibility verification, specialty notification, claims submission, and claims status inquiry to NHP providers. This real-time information exchange has measurably reduced costs for both NHP and its providers. At the first NHP provider site to implement NaviNet, the total cost of processing and managing referrals was reduced by 70 percent. NHP expects to save three dollars for every dollar it invests in NaviNet.

Which port in the storm? Can a contract management system alone meet all your managed care requirements?

For the past decade, contract management was synonymous with managed care for hospitals. Today, managed care is taking on new meaning, especially as hospital administrators and clinicians begin to think "outside the four walls." To address the increasing demands managed care is placing on hospitals, the vendors of contract management software are adding HMO-like functionality to their systems. The vendors claim their products can confirm eligibility, track referrals, process claims and even calculate capitation, in addition to managing contract administration. How do these enhanced contract management systems differ from managed care information systems used by managed care organizations to perform essentially the same functions?
