Computer applications in the nursing home dietary department.

The computer is neither the curse or the savior of the modern dietary department. However, it is a most useful tool that can save hundreds of man-hours and a significant percentage of total costs due to more careful planning and usage of supplies.

Monitoring weight changes in nursing home residents.

Health care team members in long term care must all pay attention to the problem of weight change, especially weight loss, in nursing home residents. Further, they must act in an organized and step-wise manner to address weight changes properly. This involves first obtaining a regular accurate weight, and then determining the cause of the weight loss, and finally, acting to correct the problem.
