[Changes in the cyclic AMP concentration in muscle in experimental dexamethasone myopathy].

A study was made of muscle cAMP content in rabbits with dexamethasone-induced myopathy. The experiments were performed in 15 male rabbits weighing 2.5--3.5 kg. Steroidal myopathy was produced by daily administration of 0.8 dexamethasone/kg body weight. Muscle biopsy was taken on experimental days 1, 3, 7 and 14. The content of cAMP was determined by radioimmunoassay. The clinical signs of myopathy occurred by day 7. The animals were immobilized day 14. The content of cAMP increased after the first administration of dexamethasone and remained unchanged till the end of the experiment. The increased cAMP content may be accounted for by dexamethasone effect on the enzymatic system that monitors the processes of cAMP activation and inhibition.

[Changes in hemispheric asymmetry under intensive foreign language instruction].

By means of dichotic listening test the study of perception dynamics was conducted in 20 persons during their intensive learning of French and German languages. Before the beginning of learning in all subjects, except three ones, the left hemisphere dominated in relation to verbal functions. In the process of learning in 84% of subjects activization of the opposite hemisphere was observed. In persons with the same initial level of language knowledge the success in colloquial practice was by expert evaluation as higher as bigger was the shift of the right ear coefficient at learning. The latter makes possible to evaluate quantitatively intellectual efforts spent in the process of learning. The authors suggest that such psychophysiological control of perception could be a support in solution of the problem of optimization of learning with the use of individual approach.

[A comparative analysis of the brain activity during the traditional and intensive forms of learning foreign languages].

By means of dichotic test the comparative research of the brain activity in dynamics in 84 adult students was conducted during their traditional (36 persons) and intensive (48 persons) learning of foreign languages. By different methods of learning the reliable distinction of the hemisphere's asymmetry was not detected. By both methods in the reliable majority of students the activation of the hemisphere opposite to the one dominating initially was observed. The correlation between the maximum quantitative shift of the right ear coefficient and the level of success in colloquial practice by the same initial level of language start and initial comparable size of memory was revealed. The authors discuss the possibility of the individual map composition for every student using the results of dichotic tests in dynamics for the help in the profession of a teacher.
