[A modification of the leukocyte migration inhibition test in vivo].

Estimation of the degree of leukocyte migration inhibition in the oral cavity, following exposure to allergen solution, is a test widely used to assess a subject's allergy to drugs. To simplify this test and make it more effective, the authors suggest placing the samples in plate wells and drying them there; optically transparent polystyrene plates for enzyme immunoassay are employed. Effective adsorption of the cells on the carrier and the possibility of analyzing the samples with the help of multiple magnification permit a reliable detection of the migration inhibition. The method was tried in examinations of workers engaged in the manufacture of an x-ray contrast agent triambrin. Reduced migration levels were detected in 8 of the 12 examinees.

[Changes in the cellular reactivity of guinea pigs sensitized with Bacillus thuringiensis].

Changes in the cell-mediated responsiveness of the body under the action of different variants of B. thuringiensis have been studied in experiments on guinea pigs. The data thus obtained indicate that the development of sensitization occurs in the animals, which is manifested by the increase of the sensitivity of leukocytes to the specific allergen and by the increase of the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages. The most pronounced changes in the immune responsiveness of guinea pigs have been observed after the parenteral administration of B. thuringiensis var. galleriae.

[Character of the immune response in guinea pigs following immunization with brucellosis protective antigen].

In studying guinea pigs immunized with brucella protective antigen and the immunological response in them it was found that the antigen could be determined for 30 days by the method of fluorescent antibodies in the cells of the lymph nodes and the spleen following its intravenous injection. The optimal immunizing dose was 0.6 mg; in difference from a dose of 2 mg it produced an earlier and a more pronounced humoral effect. The phagocytic activity of the peritoneal macrophages of guinea pigs immunized with low doses was much more intensive than of those immunized with high doses of the antigen. Brucella protective antigen in a dose of 2 mg produced a disturbance of the carbohydrate metabolism in phagocytes, this influencing negatively their phagocytic function.

[Characteristics of the reaction of the macrophage lysosomal apparatus in guinea pigs immunized with a live and a killed Br. abortus culture].

Accumulation of fluorescent antigen-antibody complex in the cytoplasmic granules at various time intervals after the phagocytosis of brucellae treated with brucella fluorescent serum was studied in the peritoneal macrophage culture of guinea pigs immunized with live and killed brucella culture. The activity of the lysosomic system was also studied. Immunization with live brucellae led to an increase in the acid phosphatase activity, to an increased rate of destruction of phagocytosed spheroplasts with fluorescent antibodies fixed on their surface, to a more rapid accumulation of fluorescent antigen-antibody complex in secondary lysosomes and to a more marked humoral response than the immunization with the killed culture. Changes in macrophages correlated with positive skin allergic reactions, and were apparently associated with increased sensitivity of a delayed type.
