Thermography in artificially induced coronary circulatory disorders.

In the open chest the heart loses more heat and its epicardiac temperature will fundamentally depend upon the temperature of the body and its environment, upon the flow in the coronaries and upon the actual state of myocardial metabolism. The experiments were carried out with the AGA Thermovision Type 750 equipment. The epicardial temperature changes induced by reactive hyperaemia due to the temporary coronary ligation in 24 dogs, and by permanent coronary ligation in 70 dogs, as well as by the gradually reduced coronary flow of another 8 dogs were recorded by means of thermography. The results indicated a relationship between the changes in epicardial flow and epicardial temperature, consequently thermography is considered a method suitable for the study of myocardial flow.

[Lead content of Hungarian wines (author's transl)].

The authors have investigated the lead content of 560 hungarian wines produced between 1969 and 1973 by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (Type of instrument: UNICAM SP 1900). The preparation of samples was made by wet digestion with HNO3-H202. For 94.12% of the investigated wines less than 0.4 ppm lead content was established. The 2.67% of wines contain 0.4-0.6 ppm lead. In case of 18 samples (3.21%) more than 0.6 ppm lead content was found.

[Defibrination syndrome in gastric tumors (author's transl)].

The two cases reported here were clinically misleading because of the negative history. A 49-year-old woman was treated for thrombosis migrans of the vena cava and a consumption coagulopathy; a 15-year-old boy for gastro-intestinal hemorrhages and hematemesis with fibrinolysis syndrome. Since the coagulation disturbances did not subside in spite of the treatment, an exploratory laparotomy was performed which revealed a solid carcinoma of the stomach in both cases. The hemorrhagic tendency can be traced back to the coagulation accelerator factors which escape from the tumor and metastases into the blood.
