[Methods for the preservation of soft tissue preparations for clinical use].

The demand for consistent supply of nonvital allogenous implants in tissue banks has the supposition for graft preservation. Besides of many logistic advantages the preservation methods are accompanied by the influence of original attributes, especially of biomechanic parameters in soft tissue preparations. A procedure of dura mater preparation, of fascia lata, tendons and skin is demonstrated which is preserving the required qualities of plasticity, softness and resistance. Biomechanic comparative investigations of other preservation procedures are done and first clinical results are demonstrated.

Dura Mater

[The adhesive strength of tissue adhesives].

Twenty concentrates were produced of the blood from voluntary healthy donors by a method for producing autologous tissue adhesive. Their adhesive strength were tested by means of Thermo-fleece-specimens. A review was elaborated about the kinetics and the testing of the fibrin fixation. Methodical faults were found out. Possible ways for improving autologous adhesive variants and for producing homologue tissue adhesive are shown.

[Allogenic lung transplantations following pretreatment of recipients with donor-specific splenic antigens].

Lung transplantations were carried out in 20 not immunologically selected mongrel dogs which were pretreated with donor specific spleno-antigen mixture. The average survival time was double the size (12.3 days) as in a control group of untreated dogs after allogenic lung transplantation. A number of the receivers got Cyclophosphamid in addition to the spleno-antigen mixture. In this group the average survival time amounted to 17 days. A chronic course of the rejection was not to be achieved with this method. The autopsy showed thoracic infectious complications in nearly all receivers. A great number of central pulmonary vein thromboses in the transplant was discovered in this series in contrast to other lung transplantation series. Circumstances refer to a connection with hyperacute rejection courses. The receivers of this series survived the destruction of the transplant longer on an average as such in other experimental series.

[Induction of lymphocytotoxic antibodies through transplantation of preserved allogeneic skin in mice].

The authors report investigations on inducing lymphocytotoxic antibodies by transplanting allogenic skin grafts in mice after different kinds of preservation. Immunogenic effect was found at the following test conditions: storage of the graft for 4 weeks at -196 degrees C without cryoprotection, storage for 1 day at -38 degrees C, and storage at room temperature after lyophilization immediately after removal. No immunogenity was found after storage for 3 weeks at -38 degrees C, and uncertain immunogenity after storage for 4 weeks in 4 per cent formaldehyde solution. Sometimes the average strength of the microcyte toxin test was lowered around the 7th to 9th day after transplantation. That is interpreted as sign of adsorption of circulating antibodies to the graft. The authors point at the coincidence of these findings and the rejection of primary grafts, and at the potential causal relations between both phenomena.

[Qualitative demands on a anti-N blood group test reagent from Vicia graminea (anti N vg)].

Qualitative demands made on anti-NVg are enunciated. Apart from a short description of the production and directions for the use indications for testing the specific effect, the purity and the titre are given. Furthermore, serological peculiarities of the anti-NVg for special questions are reported. Anti-NVg shall enlarge the series of the out superseding the usual anti-N-serum of the blood-group-serological diagnostic remedies with-rabbit.

[Studies on the immunogenic activity of the Bua antigen].

The fact that 14 persons after contacting Bua-antigen did not develop anti-Bua, that 5 Bua(-) mothers with Bua(+) children did not carry anti-Bua and that 10 rabbits with a long immunization did not produce any heteroanti-Bua either, leads to the conclusion, contrary to previous researchers, that Bua-antigen has only a weak immunizing effect. Therefore, the use of the blood of such blood donors seems to have no enhanced risk of immunization for the patient.

[Studies on the antigenicity of variously preserved skin].

The authors have investigated a model of second-set-rejection after allo-transplantation of chemically preserved skin by different methods. The relative increase of weight of regional lymph nodes as well as the production of lymphocytotoxic antibodies served as additioned indicators of senzitation. All regimes of preservation used in this model of second-set-rejection have been responsable for a decrease in antigenity. The results are discussed with regard to recent publications.
