[Atypical postattack symptoms in closed-angle glaucoma].

The patient, a woman of 67 years old, has been diagnosed and treated about 19 years for glaucoma with open angle. After a leg fracture, she had great ocular aches at the left eye, perikeratic congestion and a great diminution of the eye-sight. After the application of the orthopaedic cure and of the general sedatives she went to the oculist who established the diminution of the eyesight at the left eye at 1/500 with synekies in semi-mydriasis and ocular pressure of 12 mm Hg at both eyes. She was hospitalised with diagnosis Uveitis at the left eye and the instillation with mydriatics improved the eye-sight. The patient presented glaucoma with closed angle after attack phase at both eyes for which the basal iridectomy is used. It is shown the importance of anamnesis in glaucoma with closed angle and the difficulties in diagnosis that can occur sometimes in glaucoma with closed angle.

Aged↗

[Congenital bilateral dacryocystitis and craniofacial dysraphia].

It is presented the observation of a child of 8 years old having a bilateral congenital dacryocyst by the absence of the lacrimonasal duct and multiple facial malformations are: telorbitismus, frontal meningocele, some lesions determined by a craniofacial dehiscence (fissura 2-12) with paramedian dysraphia. The affection has been produced by a disturbance of embryogenesis that occurred during the V-VI intrauterine development weeks, by metrorrhagias and repeated hypoxia that determined a disturbance at the level of the welding frontal buds with meningocele, of the olfactive guttier and the mass of the ethmoid with telorbitism and arthresia of the lacrimal duct.

Child↗

[Acute viral dacryoadenitis].

The 30-year-old patient presented an acute viral dacryoadenitis following an influenza episode. Stress is laid on the viral etiology of acute dacryoadenitis with a trailing evolution lasting 2-3 months.

Acute Disease↗

[Optic ischemic neuropathy in mitral disease].

In the reported case, a 54-year-old woman suffering from the mitral valvular disease with predominance of stenosis, in the stage of total heart insufficiency, appears an ischaemic optic neuropathy at the right eye and, after a year, also at the left eye. The pathogenesis of the ischaemic optic neuropathy is discussed and the role of mitral stenosis and congestive heart failure in the development of bilateral ischaemic optic neuropathy is emphasized.

Atrial Fibrillation↗

[Corneal hemosiderosis].

Two clinical cases of hematic infiltration of the cornea after severe ocular contusions are reported. Lesion of the cornea endothelium determines infiltration of the parenchyma with hemosiderin and hypofucsin, the products of hemoglobin break down. Metabolic activity of the cornea suffers, oxygen supply becomes insufficient and produces degradation of the cornea parenchyma with loss of the visual function. The affection is interpreted as a hemosiderosis process.

Adult↗

[Mucosynechial conjunctivitis and bilateral corneal ulcers in Lyell's syndrome].

The patient, aged 44, presented fever and chills with altered general condition and received an analgesic-antipyretic treatment with salicylic acid and pyrazolon derivatives. A bullous eruption that followed was labelled incipient Lyell syndrome. Both cornea presented ulcers with a tendency to perforation and mucosynechial conjunctivitis. Pathogenic Staphylococcus albus was isolated from the conjunctival secretion. The ocular phenomena improved under mydriatic treatment and trophic medication. Lyell's syndrome is the result of a severe medicamentous toxemia. Stress is laid on the role of Staphylococcus aureus, phage type 71, in the process of epidermal necrosis with detachment of the epithelium and ulceration of the mucosa.
