[The indices of systemic and regional hemodynamics in waking rats with streptozotocin diabetes].

Important cardiovascular dysfunctions have been described in streptozotocin (STZ)-diabetic rats. To determine the influence of these changes on the hemodynamic state, the different hemodynamic parameters, obtained by microsphere technique, were studied in STZ-induced (50 mg/kg) diabetic male Wistar rats, as well as in age control. All the rats were examined in the conscious, unrestrained state 12 weeks after induction of diabetes or acidified saline (pH 4.5) injection. During 12 weeks of the diabetic state the most important findings are hypotension, increase in cardiac index, decrease in total peripheral resistance and altered regional blood flow. These results suggest that important hemodynamic alterations are present in the chronic diabetic state.

[The functional activity of the urethral neutrophilic granulocytes in patients with chronic urethroprostatitis and its correction].

The functional state of urethral neutrophil granulocytes in patients with chronic urethro-prostatitis, and possibility of miramistin use in complex treatment of the disease were investigated. The data revealed functional suppression of these granulocytes in the patients. Complex treatment with miramistin normalized indices of urethral phagocytic activity, on the contrary, after treatment of the patients without the agent there was no tendency to normalize urethral phagocytic function. The findings suggest that miramistin supplemented to routine antiinflammatory therapy improves curative results in patients with chronic urethro-prostatitis but the drug should be prescribed in accordance with the initial function of urethral neutrophil granulocytes.

[Use of thrombin in the prevention and arrest of intraocular hemorrhage during vitrectomy in traumatic hemophthalmos].

Thrombin obtained from donor blood plasma was used to achieve hemostasis during vitrectomy for traumatic hemophthalmos. Analysis of the results of surgery in 21 patients and in 28 controls has shown a manifest hemostatic activity of the agent. If introduced intravitreally, it induced no local reaction of tissues. Thrombin is recommended for clinical application.

[Changes in systemic hemodynamics and vascular resistance in unilaterally nephrectomized rats with vasorenal hypertension].

Cardiac output (CO), arterial pressure (AP), and total peripheral resistance of the vessels were studied in rats on the 1st, 5th, and 20th day after the onset of one-kidney vasorenal hypertension. The CO increased by 72% and the peripheral resistance reduced on the 1st day. In stable increase of AD the CO did not differ from the control level. In extracorporeal perfusion of the hindquarters of hypertensive rats in the indicated periods increased reactivity of the vessels to noradrenaline and resistance at maximal dilatation were revealed. These changes were encountered even before statistically significant increase in AP (5th day) and increased with the gradual development of hypertension.
