[Aetiology of female sexual dysfunction].

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is a significant age-related, progressive, and highly prevalent problem that affects a substantial number of women on their quality of life. However, it hasn't received enough attention. In this review, the local regulation mechanism and the aetiological factors are associated with FSD are discussed. With the increased research, an improved awareness and understanding of the pathophysiological machanism of FSD may, in the future, enable us to address it more appropriately and develop suitable treatment.

[Investigation of the mechanism of genitofemoral nerve in the contralateral testes damage of unilateral cryptorchid rats].

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the mechanism of genitofemoral nerve in the contralateral testes damage of unilateral cryptorchid rats. METHODS: After unilateral cryptorchid rat model (21-day) was made and the ipsilateral genitofemoral nerve was divided, the germ cells apoptosis and the concentrations of lactate of contralateral testes were detected and compared after 120 days. RESULTS: After the ipsilateral genitofemoral nerve was divided, the germ cells apoptosis and the lactate levels of the contralateral testes were all decreased from (17.28 +/- 1.36)% to (5.76 +/- 0.76)% and (2.19 +/- 0.24) mmol/L to (1.70 +/- 0.31) mmol/L, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The damage pathway of the contralateral testes of unilateral cryptorchidism probably related to the apoptosis of the germ cells which caused by the reflex decrease of the contralateral testicular blood flow via the transmissions of genitofemoral nerve.

[Effect of androgen on penile erection induced by L-arginine in paraventricular nucleus].

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the relationship between penile erection induced by L-arginine in paraventricular nucleus (PVN) and androgen. METHODS: Twenty-four mature male rabbits were randomly divided into three groups which were castrate, castrate with testosterone propionate (T) replacement and pseudo-operation. One month later, the highest intracavernous pressure (ICP) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) of each PVN tissue were measured after infusing L-arginine into the PVN. RESULTS: The mean ICPs of the highest values in castrate, castrate given T replacement and pseudo-operation groups were (22.640 +/- 4.747) mmHg, (38.146 +/- 4.907) mmHg and (39.991 +/- 3.068) mmHg, respectively. The mean value of NOS activity of each group were (0.807 +/- 0.188) U/mg.prot, (1.457 +/- 0.293) U/mg.prot and (1.528 +/- 0.204) U/mg.prot, respectively. The ICP and NOS activity in castrate were different statistically from T replacement and pseudo-operation group (both P < 0.01). T replacement group had no statistical difference from pseudo-operation group(P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Nitric oxide (NO) is one of the neurotransmitters in PVN particularly relevant for the control of penile erection. Penile erection induced by L-arginine in PVN depends on androgen.
