[Effect of coronary blood flow recovery after its measured limitation on the hemodynamics and contractile capacity of the myocardium].

Dosaged restriction of coronary blood flow and its subsequent restoration were conducted in acute experiments on anesthesized dogs under conditions of closed chest and preserved natural respiration. The degree of ischemic damage to the heart muscle was determined by means of precardial ECG, the functional condition of the left ventricle was studied according to the data on intraventricular pressure and the rate of its changes with subsequent calculation of the contractility indices. The indices of general hemodynamics were also studied. A definite correlation between the blood supply and function of the myocardium was established. It is shown that temporary restriction of coronary blood flow by 50 and 80% leads to subsequent long-term changes in the functional condition of the heart muscle and general hemodynamics.

[Effect of intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation on regional blood circulation].

The effect of intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation (IABC) on the volume blood flow in the descending branch of the left coronary artery and in the vertebral, renal, and femoral arteries was studied in dog experiments by means of an electromagnetic flowmeter. Resistography was applied to appraise the regulatory changes in the resistance to the blood flow in the vascular regions mentioned during IABC. It is shown that the increase in the coronary and cerebral blood flow during IABC is not associated with the reflex dilation of the resistant vessels of the heart and brain and is mainly due to a rise of diastolic pressure in the aorta. The volume blood flow in the kidney and hind extremity is maintained during IABC at a level close to the initial level due to regulatory decrease of the resistance of the vessels of these organs.

[Mechanism of the cardiotonic effect of alpha-adrenoblockade by phentolamine].

In canine experiments with recording intraventricular pressure and its first derivative, with electromagnetic flowmetry and thermodilution it has been demonstrated that controlled Phentolamine-induced alpha-adrenergic block results in an increase of the cardiac output, heart rate, myocardial contractility index, and, at the same time, in a reduction of the total vascular resistance, arterial pressure, intraventricular pressure and heart work. The beneficial chronotropic effect of Phentolamine was shown not to depend on its suggested "central" action, to be not determined by reflex stimulation of the cardiac activity due to systemic hypotension, but to be brought about by a block of the myocardial alpha-adrenergic receptors and a moderate activation of beta-adrenergic receptors. The concept of the untoward chronotropic effects being mediated by myocardial alpha-adrenoreceptors is being substantiated. The mechanism of the beneficial inotropic effect of Phentolamine may be based on the stimulation of beta-receptors, concomitant tachycardia, and, probably, the effect of the "centrai" action of the drug.

[Comparative characteristics of the effect of curanthil on blood vessels of different organs].

In experiments on dogs conducted by means of resistography Curanthil (Dipyridamol) was shown to produce a consistent fall in the resistance to the blood flow in the cardiac vessels due to their active depressor reaction. Besides, Curanthil helps a distinct fall in the resistance of the vessels of the small intestine, sceletal muscles and, to a lower degree, of the brain. These data do not support those of a selective coronary-dilating action of this drug. The reaction of the renal vessels to Curanthil was not uniform and was predominantly of a pressor nature.
